Season Two, Episode Twelve
I woke up way before Jameson the next morning. Though, I had really only slept for a few hours I felt rested.
I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed, I didn't want to leave Jameson.
His mouth was open, and light snores went through at every exhale, and I smiled down at him. I loved him so much, and I couldn't help but hate what all of this was doing in general. Jameson didn't protest when Elwood showed up last night, but I could tell all of this was affecting him in some way.
I pressed a kiss to his forehead, hugging him closer and mumbling how much I loved him under my breath.
"I love you too." His eyes slowly opened, and I smiled down at him.
"Morning my love."
Jameson smiled in a sleepy way, blinking blearily, and slowly starting to stretch. He groaned as he did, his arms reaching above his head as he moved. I dodged his fist, snorting as I did. He mumbles an apology, before stretching up to kiss my lips. I smiled into it, sitting up a bit as I did.
I rolled over a bit, my chest pressed to Jameson's as we continued to kiss. His hands were freezing as they pressed to my lower back, and I pulled back, reaching around to move his hands off of my bare skin and back onto the bed.
Jameson chuckled, starting to kiss me again, before my phone ruined the moment.
I groaned, dropping my head and letting my forehead clunk against his shoulder. I reached out, slapping at my bedside table and grabbing my phone. I answered it as I rolled off of Jameson.
"I heard you were robbed." Danny's voice was monotone as he spoke, and I had a feeling it's because he was distracted.
"And a good morning to you too." I retorted, looking for Jameson's hand with my free hand. I latched on, moving my thumbs in circles on the back of his hand as Danny continued.
"I'll head over to process your place in a few hours, I got the warrant for the Greers book, and we're about to storm the castle." I nodded, even though I knew he couldn't see me. "You ready J?"
Jameson prodded my shoulder, mouthing the words to ask who it was. I muttered Danny back, before putting the phone on speaker and dropping it onto my chest. "Go on then." I spoke loud enough for Danny to hear.
"Lets move!" Danny's voice was firm and loud, and I heard the bang of a door opening. "Alan Greer, NYPD, we have a search warrant!"
Nothing sounded for a moment, but I could just barely hear them all going about proper protocol and announcing that each room was clear as they went through.
"Alan Greer! Show yourself!" Danny was suddenly shouting again and I was nearly startled at the appearance.
"Is the bookie there?" I asked, glancing over at Jameson who appeared to be dozing off.
"I'm not seeing him." Pause. "Shit!"
The exclamation made me nervous, and Jameson suddenly appeared to be awake to hear whatever it was Danny had found.
"We got a body." Danny sighed, "Whoever's doing this beat us here."
"Bloody hell." I muttered, raking my left hand through my hard before pushing myself to a seated position. "They get the book?" I didn't bother turning the speaker phone off, there were no secrets between Jameson and I, especially in this situation.
"The safe is still shut. Greer's dead, single shot to the back of his head." Danny sighed, and I could hear him step away from the bustle of everyone else. "J, I got to ask. Did you leave your place after going to the house last night?"
Jameson and I both had the same knee jerk reaction, he sat up in bed, and we both spoke at the same time:
"Are you kidding me Reagan?"
"What the hell Danny!"
I reached back for Jameson's hand, before feeling myself move forward as he leaned his entire upper body against mine.
I ignored the fact that Danny had even thought I had done this, "Have ESU cut the safe open and see if the books inside."
Danny sighed. "Yeah they're getting it open now."
I looked over my shoulder at Jameson, trying to not show him how worried I was, but I knew he could tell. He sat up a bit more, moving closer to me and pressing a kiss to my shoulder.
"The book isn't in there J." Danny sighed, and I echoed it. "Maybe he had it out when they came for him. Tear this place apart!"
"No Danny, wait, our warrant says that we can only check the safe, that's it." I was quick to snap back, jumping to my feet, before turning and immediately mouthing an apology to Jameson who waved it off.
"You know what, I think I'm having trouble hearing you." Danny's voice was clear as day, before he suddenly hand up on me.
"Bloody hell." I muttered, taking my phone away from my ear and turning to look at Jameson. He was sprawled out across my bed, looking up at me with a lopsided concerned smile. "Your brother is a pill." I said, before moving to lay down on the bed next to him. "I don't know how you're related."
Jameson snorts, "Me neither."
But we both knew that neither of us would trade him for anything, he was a damn good partner, and a pretty decent brother from what I could tell.
Jameson and I spent the next few hours laying in bed together, kissing and talking and kissing just a bit more. I wouldn't want to spend a day any other way.
