Season Two, Episode Nineteen

Danny was the one to originally see the house, so when I arrived on scene I was rather shocked at the sheer size of it all. Nearly all of the inside was complete, the only thing it was really missing was the furniture and a bit of a cleanup.

Reid arrived eight minutes after me, and went around the house on his own, before coming downstairs with a clip board in hand.

"Everything good?" Even though this was for a case, I felt rather excited to know whether or not the house passed the inspection.

"At this time, this house doesn't pass inspection." Reid barely looked up from the clipboard as he spoke. "You've got a loose outlet on the second floor, and there's extra rail space on the basement steps."

I knew what the first one meant, but I was never really a physical worker, so the second went over my head. However, at the prompting of Danny through the ear piece I was wearing I was told to say, "That I can fix in five minutes, while you're standing here."

He shook his head, starting towards the door of the house and starting to leave, "We'll have another inspection in eight weeks."

"Mrs. Keenan can't wait that long, is there anything I can do to make it your while?" I asked, which made the man pause in his tracks to see me.

"I don't," he swallowed thickly, "I don't know what you mean."

"Five hundred today, five hundred tomorrow." I didn't bother flashing the cash to him, but I had a feeling he knew that I had it.

"That is against Building Inspector policy, but perhaps I can take a look at the calendar to see if I can come back at a better time?" He opened his clipboard, and I set the money in there, watching as Reid closed his clipboard and turned to me with a smile. "I can come back tomorrow."

"Thank you Mr. Reid." I shook his hand, before removing my shield from my waistband. "You are under arrest for accepting a bribe."

At those words, Danny and a few other officers came from around the corner and started to arrest the guy. Reid looked at me angrily, "You son of a bitch."

I smiled unphased, "Have a nice day." I waved the man off, before glancing at my watch. "Bullocks, I'm going to be late. You can handle him?"

"I got him, go on." Danny nodded me off, and I smiled in thanks, patting his arm before jogging towards my car.

To Kenai's utter disappointment, I had to leave her in the car while Reid was there, but as I approached the car she looked happy with herself, as she was able to stick her head just far enough out the cracked window to be able to receive pets from passerby's.

I climbed in the front seat, reaching over to roll the window down just a bit more for her, before rushing off. It was a bit of a struggle to get changed and drive, but I was able to handle it as I went. I arrived at One PP without breaking any traffic codes or violations, and stepped out of the car. My dress blues jacket was laid carefully across the back seat, and I pulled it on all in one motion. Kenai hopped out herself, pausing to let me clip her leash on before I led the way inside.

I straightened my shirt as I went, smoothing out all of the creases and wrinkles that happened to appear, and smiling at the few people I passed. I hadn't been to an American award ceremony ever, but it looked all the same compared to a British one.

I expected to have to sit towards the back of the room, but as soon as I walked in Jameson noticed me. He met me halfway, kissing my cheek before muttering hello.

"Congratulations my love." I offered my elbow to him, though I let him lead me to the seats on the front row. I wanted to say something else, but Garrett Moore walked up behind the podium and asked us all to take our seats.

"Asseior Kenai." She did as I asked, and I held Jameson's hand as his father took a stand behind the podium.

"Every day, the men and women of the New York City Police Department perform acts both large and small that, as commissioner, make me very proud." Frank looked directly at Jameson as he said that, and I watched him smile. "In the modern world, it's very difficult to find certainty, but today, two things are crystal clear."

Frank motioned to the opposite side of the room, and as I looked I noted a woman and a small child, the child that I assume Jameson saved. Frank confirmed my assumption.

"One, six month old Raymond Peter Lopez doesn't know how to say thank you just yet. The other certainty, is that little Raymond wouldn't be here if it wasn't for a hero." I felt myself swell with pride when Frank called Jameson that. "So I would like to bring up Officer Jameson Reagan."

I squeezed Jameson's hand one more time, before watching as he joined his father beside the podium, standing at attention. Frank pined a breast bar on his chest, and I smiled once again, joining the rest of the room in their clapping.

"Thank you, Commissioner." Jameson said, before reaching to shake his fathers hand.

The room erupted into applause again, and I smiled, happy for the short ceremony. Jameson and his father posed for pictures for a moment, before everyone in the room dispersed from their spots to congratulate Jameson.

I hurried to his side, knowing that Jameson has a bit of trouble with a lot of people, as did I, but I didn't want him to be uncomfortable. He thanked everyone, slowly making his way across the room to Mrs. Lopez. She threw her arms around him, and I smiled, waving at the little boy in her arms.

"Thank you again Officer Reagan."

"You're welcome Mrs. Lopez, Raymond." He nodded to both of them, and I smiled. The woman looked at me, introducing herself. "Oh, right, this is Detective Inspector Jett Howards, my boyfriend."

My heart fluttered at being called Jameson's anything, and I smiled brightly.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." I shook her hand, before taking Jameson's hand in my own and following him back to the back of the room. He smiled at me, leaning his head to the side and sighing. I touched the lapels of his uniform, straitening the breast bars and fabric, before looking at his face. He was looking at mine however, instead his eyes were roaming over my uniform.

"I like what I see." Jameson's voice was low, and I blushed with a smile. I leaned down a bit, kissing his lips firmly.

"Good."
