Episode Eighteen

I smiled when I answered my phone, "Good Morning Jameson." I had just walked out of the DA's office fully prepared for the Grand Jury tomorrow, all that was left to wait, and luckily it wouldn't be long.

"Jett!" He replied excitedly and with a loud voice. "I found the perfect place for lunch, they have that thing you're always going on about. Fish and fries."

"Fish and chips love, fish and chips." I corrected, unable to stop my smile from spreading across my face.

"Right yeah, fish and chips." He sort of muttered it when he repeated the right way of saying things. "Either way, its on the corner of 12th and 4th. Sarg has to do something the rest of today, I'm assigned plainclothes for the rest of the day, so it'll just be us. Sound good?"

"Sounds perfect. I'll see you soon love, corner of 12th and 4th?" I waited for him to confirm, but nothing came. "Jameson?" An odd sound comes from the other end of the line, like he dropped his phone. The call disconnects. I make a noise of confusion, pausing in my tracks, before dialing the number again. The call doesn't connect, I dialed one more time, and smiled when it went through. "Jameson, you had me worried for a-"

"For a police officer he isn't to smart." The voice interrupts me, my heart stops. "Ran into an alley way the second someone asked for help."

"Leave him be, he's done nothing wrong." I spoke aggressively, tightening my grip on Kenai's leash.

"Don't look for him amigo, we'll know if you do."

"If you hurt him I swear to-" The call ends, "Bloody hell." I mutter, lowering my phone from my ear, before dialing it again.

"Hi this is Jamie Reagan, I can't take your call right now, but-" I end the call, starting to jog towards my motorcycle, and climbing on quickly. I take off, going as quickly as I can towards the restaurant address that Jameson had given me. When I get there everything is how it should be, and no one appears disturbed by the fact that a kidnapping took place on this street.

"Kenai le trouver! Le trouver!" I shout, letting her off of the leash. She takes off running in and out of alleyways, I go in the opposite direction. Looking everywhere for some sort of proof that Jameson was here. I find it in the second alleyway that I search. The coat I had given Jameson was torn, like someone had grabbed it while he tried to run. I picked it up, holding it close and I took a deep breath. "Kenai revien!" I shouted loudly, and a few seconds later I could hear the click of her nails on the concrete as she came running back to me.

I pulled my phone out, clicking Danny's contact name and putting the phone against my ear. "Danny where are you?"

"About to pick my kids up from school." His voice was distant, like the phone was sitting in a cup holder away from him, "Why?"

"I need your help." I could hear a shuffle happen, before his voice gets louder.

"What happened?" He sounds sort of panicked.

"I'll explain when you get here."

"I can't just not pick up my kids." Danny mutters, and I could hear him sigh loudly, "I'll call-"

"I'll call Henry and make sure he can pick up the kids alright? Just get to the corner of 12th and 4th." I hung up my phone before he could say anything other than 'okay' back to me. I called Henry, and told him that Danny and I caught a case, and asked if he could pick up the kids. He saw through my lie, guessing that it had something to with the gang, and promised that he would get the kids and not ask anything else.

I thanked him a dozen times before I hung up, some part of me hoping for the best, I dialed Jameson's number again. It went straight to voicemail, and in my panic one sob fell from my mouth. I squashed it with my hand, taking a deep breath through the panic and fear. I stood straight, folding Jameson's jacket in my arms. Danny's unmarked car came around the corner, and the second it stopped I jogged up to it quickly, pulling open the back for Kenai before getting in the front seat.

Danny pulls away from the curb, and we sit in silence for a few minutes before I finally speak. "They got Jameson. I don't know how, I don't know why the bloody hell they even would-" I stopped. I knew exactly why, but it wasn't my truth to share. "I don't know where he is and we need to find him."

Danny sat there, driving the car and processing what I had said for a few blocks, and I thought for a minute I'd have to repeat everything that I had just said. "My brother? They got my kid brother?" I nodded, "Fuck."

I snorted despite myself, I had never heard him speak so obscenely before, but given our present situation it was understandable. We drove to the precinct, our first priority is turning to TARU to track the last place Jameson's phone pinged from. Which wasn't helpful, as the last place was the tower nearest to where we were meeting for lunch.

I was panicking, and I hadn't even told the rest of the Reagan family yet. Some part of me hopes we find him before it comes to that, and maybe Jameson will want to tell them. I wouldn't be able to tell them about us, because something about sharing this intimate part between the two of us was something that he had to initiate. I could wait, and I would wait, no matter what the outcome of today. I would wait for Jameson to be ready, and I would be there right next to him ready for anything that would be thrown at us.

All I needed to do was find Jameson, no matter what. Find Jameson because he meant the world to me.

I'm in love, and that terrified me.
