Season Three, Episode One

I was in the process of gathering the last few dishes of food from the kitchen when I heard Danny speak up from the dining room. As I stepped in, I shook my head at his over-confident persona. Kenai was sticking firmly to Jameson's chair, and I was careful to step over her as I passed by.

"-wasn't worried a bit." Danny appeared confident as he leaned back in his chair, and as I passed behind him to set the dishes down, I bumped his chair. Which succeeded in startling him, which in turn made the family laugh.

I smiled just a bit, walking around to my seat at the table and kneeling next to Jameson. "Do you need anything my love?"

Jameson looked at me in a drowsy sort of way, "For you to just calm down babe." He laughed before wincing, and I pressed a hand to the side of his face. Jameson leaned into it, sighing. I stood, kissing his cheek, before taking a seat to his right.

"He had my lucky rabbits foot!" Jack exclaims proudly, and I smile at his excitement.

"I think you mean my lucky rabbit's foot." Frank pipes in, pulling his chair out and taking a seat at his usual end of the table.

"Wait, I thought it was mine?" Danny mutters, like a small child who got his toy stolen, and I smiled.wat

"Don't worry it's still yours to give," Frank smiles, looking over at me. "We're just happy you came back in one piece. Both  of you." He puts emphasis on the words, and I smile with a nod.

"Er, I suppose all of us." I take Jameson's hand in mine with a glance over at him, smiling and squeezing his hand in mine. He still looks tired, but at least he doesn't look in pain. "I think it was a hard week for the lot of us."

"We're just happy that you all  came back in one piece." Linda puts a hand on her husbands shoulder, leaning over to give him a kiss.

"Alright, from now on," I smile, shaking away the bit of laughter that I felt. Jameson looks over at me, and I squeeze his hand just a bit more. "Anybody Danny arrests gets sent away with gets a case of bloody cookies and a note that says 'no hard feelings.'"

"Language!" Henry reaches over and smacks the back of my head, I jokingly rub it as if it hurt, before smiling at him and muttering an apology. Frank gives me the same playful look, and I make sure to add an apology in his direction.

"I can't get over the fact that your bright idea was to chuck the bomb over the railing." Danny said it in an off-handed way, with a laugh and a smile, but I looked away. I knew that that specific fact had been left out of most media sources, and while the case was high profile, at the same time it really wasn't.

I tried not to smile, even though the entire idea amused me more than I would admit. I looked down at the table, and waited for the small explosion that was sure to occur.

"You did what!" Jameson and Linda shouted at the same time, and I tried not to laugh as Linda slapped her husbands chest. I smiled at Jameson, and while he looked concerned, it was more for my well being than the fact that I had acted so rashly.

The only two at the table who did not  look surprised was Frank and Henry. The assumption there was that Frank, being Police Commissioner knew this information, and shared it with Henry. Erin and Nicki looked just as frustrated that they weren't in the loop, while the two boys seemed overly excited about the idea of throwing a bomb into the water.

"In my defense," Danny mutters, and for barely I second, I believed that he was going to come to my defense as well. "I had no idea what he was going to do."

"What?" I shouted, laughing and looking at Danny in a sort of fake-angry way. "It was smarter than doing what he wanted-"

"Alright!" Frank laughed, waving me off. "It wasn't protocol, but it was necessary."

Frank didn't continue, and for just a moment I was worried that he would share the part about a gun being held against my head. I was glad that he didn't.

"Well, jokes aside, I do want to take a moment and acknowledge someone special." Danny takes his wife's hand in his and smiles at her. "'Cause I never would have got through this if I didn't have the best partner a cop could have, Linda."

She blushed, and the entire table couldn't help but laugh and smile at the cute moment between husband and wife.

"That was the sweetest thing ever Uncle Danny." Nicki said it with a whine, and I shook my head at his over-sentimentality.

"I think I might cry." Erin chimed in, wiping away a fake tear.

And in a moment of pure fantastic accident, Jameson and I spoke at the same time. "I might puke."

We looked at each other the second after we said it and it was sort of like the 'same hat' moment that you have with random passerby on the street. We both smiled in a subtle sort of way, ignoring the chastising from the others at the table. Moments after, Frank said about praying and everyone bowed our heads.

But not before I leaned over and gave Jameson a kiss, because I knew that he was perfect for me in this moment.
