Ignoring the repeated annoyed glares from the adults in our party, I skipped happily alongside Naruto as we trekked our way along the dirt path. What did they have to be so dire about? We were out in the middle of some beautiful woods, bright green trees and small, carefree birds creating a pleasant little scene that I wasn't going to let be dampened by my more grumpy teammates.
Kakashi all the same, felt the need to scold, "Sakura, remember that we are on an important mission and should be taking this seriously."
"But I'm so happy that we have a C rank mission!" I gushed, grabbing Naruto's hand and swinging it excitedly, eliciting a flustered smile and nod from the boy that unfortunately wasn't very contagious if the various frowns from everyone else had anything to say.
"If you're so happy for the responsibility, then make sure that you are deserving of it." Kakashi sighed, "Just because you have gotten this mission does not mean you will get more in the future if you don't behave."
"What?" Naruto pouted, "We've just begun our mission and you're already disappointed in us?"
"I never said I was disappointed." Kakashi replied calmly, glancing back at us with an expression that conveyed some humor, "I'm just giving you a fair warning."
Naruto gave me a look, and I just shrugged. It was good enough advice, so I wasn't going to complain. Instead, I was going to hum! Because things were getting quiet, and I didn't particularly like quiet. It was some broadway tune I'd gotten stuck in my head, and it was moments like these that I lamented the lack of music players or really music period.
The curious glances I was getting from Naruto and Sasuke were maybe a little annoying, but there wasn't really a problem until I involuntarily began to sing... in English. I mean, c'mon, some American classics just didn't sound as good in Japanese! I was still successfully ignoring the attention of my traveling group because I didn't particularly care if I was confusing them, and I was happy enough to walk along hand in hand with my husband and sing and look at Kakashi. But, of course, my silver-haired sensei had to object again.
"It isn't a good idea to be making so much noise," He chided lightly, although if anything he seemed more intrigued by the sounds I was making, "On a mission it should be your goal to draw the least amount of attention to yourself as possible.
"Okay!" I chirped, but continued to sing anyway, Kakashi shaking his head with an almost amused sigh and Tazuna scoffing.
After a while, Naruto leaned into me, halting my singing, "What is that?"
"What's what?" I tilted my head cluelessly.
He titled his back, "What are you singing?"
"A song!" I smiled. What else did he think it was?
He frowned slightly in confusion, "But it doesn't sound... normal."
"Don't worry about it!" I dismissed with a grin, "It's a super special secret of mine." I booped him on the nose, trying to make it clear that I wasn't going to talk anymore about it as, let's be honest, I didn't have a good enough lie to explain it away yet.
Sasuke shot a glare back, "'Secret's' a funny way of trying to play that off."
"C'mon," I smirked at him, "You don't think I make any sense anyways, so why do you care?"
He grimaced, "Because this time you're not even speaking words, maybe? If I didn't know you better, I'd think you were having a stroke or some shit."
"Maybe I am~!" I gasped excitedly, and Sasuke's exasperation only multiplied.
He refaced the road pointedly, "You're fucking weird, you know that?"
"She's also your teammate." Kakashi commented, "So talk to her nicely."
