The hospital was boring, and having two completely shattered legs meant that I was going to have to spend a lot of time being bored. After going through surgery, I spent most of my first few days sleeping, only barely remembering getting some visitors.

On the fourth day of my recovery, though, I was wide awake. To my delight I woke up seeing my parents sitting in chairs by my bedside.

"Hey, sweetie." My dad smiled kindly at me, "how are ya' feelin'?"

"Been better, but this isn't too bad." I beamed back at them. My mom became teary eyed.

"Oh, Sakura," she pulled me into a hug, "We were so worried about you. I'm so sorry."

My dad joined our hug, wrapping his arms around both my mom and me.

"I'm sorry too." Tears fell down my cheeks.

"I know that you are choosing a difficult job but..." my mom sobbed, "I wish that we could protect you."

"Sakura, we love you so much, and we are so proud of you." even my dad's voice broke a little, "But it hurts to see you go through this."

"I know. I know. I'm sorry. I love you too."

We finally broke our hug, and my parents sat down.

"Is there anything we can get you?" My dad asked, "Since you will be here for another week."

"Actually, if I could have a pen and paper I could write a list of some sealing supplies I would like." I looked down at my writing hand, which was bandaged from having a pen stabbed through it.

After my parents had left, I was left alone for a while to think. I would obviously use my time in the hospital to study, but it would be agonizing to not be able to move around, train, or talk to anyone. What was even more agonizing was that I had no idea what had happened with the rest of the matches. I had some clues based off of random dreams, but ultimately I couldn't know what exactly happened or how bad it was.

Some time around lunch, Naruto and Sasuke came to visit me. I immediately stretched my arms out for Naruto.

"Come to me, my husband!"

Naruto happily leapt onto my bed to give me my hug.

"Sakura! I'm so glad you're okay!" he smiled his adorable toothy grin.

"Yeah, things haven't been the same without you around." Sasuke sat on the edge of my bed, shoving his hands in his pockets. My heart soared.

"Awww, you do care!" I cooed as I reached out to pull him closer.

"Don't push it." He grumbled.

"So, Naruto, how'd your fight go?" I asked happily. It was subtle, but his face fell ever so slightly.

"I won!" He turned to me with an air of confidence, "Kiba didn't stand a chance."

"Oh," my spirits immediately plummeted as I remembered Hinata's condition, "well, I'm really proud of you!" I too covered up my apprehension with confidence.

The mood wasn't the same though. We all sat there a moment.

"How is she?" I gripped the sheets that covered me.

"Hinata..." Naruto either couldn't finish or couldn't find the words.

"Was that what was going to happen to me?" Sasuke looked at me bewildered. I looked down at my hands.

"Yes." I stated simply, "She took on that for you. I want you to remember that."

Sasuke nodded gravely.
