I stood, winded from the amount of chakra I was having to expend defending myself from the constant rain of spiders. This was the stuff nightmares were made of. I shuddered, flicking arachnid organs off of my hand. How much longer could I keep this up for? The incessant barrages of spikes and spiders were causing me to leave openings. I felt a sharp pain in my arm as it was grazed by a projectile. I needed to get rid of this spider.
Before I could do any such thing though, a gigantic fireball erupted above me, engulfing the giant spider and reducing it to a disgusting sludge. My eyes flickered about the trees until Sasuke leapt into view.
"I told you to move on." I reprimanded.
"And I decided not to." he answered flatly, "And seeing how things are going I think I made the right decision."
I stared back at him for a moment, not able to argue.
"Spiders, huh?" he looked around the clearing, "Gross."
"That's an understatement." I grumbled.
Our conversation was interrupted when an arrow whizzed at me from behind. I ducked out of the way, the object barely missing me.
"I wouldn't be so careless." Kidomaru shouted, launching another arrow at Sasuke this time. He leapt back, landing next to me.
"What's this guy's deal?" he asked.
"He has spider themed abilities and is skilled in long ranged weaponry." I explained quickly as several more projectiles rained down on us.
"We need to figure out where he is." Sasuke stated.
"You don't think I've been trying?" I growled, frustrated.
"Now there's two of us. Keep him aimed at you, and I'll find where he is." he said before jumping up into the tree's and out of sight.
Another arrow came down; he was aiming for my blind spot.
"Sasuke!" I shouted, "In the direction behind me!"
I heard various rustlings in the trees before another arrow came flying at me. I tried to dodge, but this time it... moved after me? Was this some type of homing attack? Shit.
I needed it to go through somewhere not vital... just somewhere not vital. It also had a string attached to it, meaning that not only could I reach Kidomaru, but Sasuke could find him as well. I weaved to the side, sticking out an arm and preparing myself for impact.
My right shoulder exploded with pain as it was run through, pinning me to a tree. A strangled cry of pain escaped me as I tried to regain my bearings enough to attack. I grabbed ahold of the string, "Now Sasuke!" I shouted out.
Using what was left of my chakra, I sent a pulse down the line. Simultaneously, another massive fireball exploded off in the direction of the string, a scream filling the air. Then there was silence, a heavy, eerie silence. I stood there, hands still holding onto the string until it began to collapse and disintegrate in my hands.
Sasuke came sprinting back towards me.
"Holy shit." he mumbled, "I know I told you to keep him aimed at you but..."
"It-it's fine." I spat through gritted teeth, "J-just get this out of me." I still couldn't get over the fact that these weapons were made by that man's saliva.
Sasuke nodded, walking over and breaking it off close to where it entered me, allowing me to essentially step off of it. I immediately clutched my shoulder, hoping to stem the bleeding.
"Here," Sasuke took out some bandaging, "We need to deal with that."
"No, we need to go after Hinata." I insisted.
