I shifted uneasily from foot to foot, hands fiddling uselessly with the hem of my shirt. Kakashi stood next to me as we waited.

"You've already spoken with him before. There is no need to be so nervous." he smiled kindly at me.

"Yeah, but he's never asked to see me alone." I smiled sheepishly.

"You don't have to hide it from me," he looked away, smile still evident on his face.

"I don't know what you're talking about." my smile widened awkwardly.

"You're nervous about him asking you about your little 'gift'." He glanced down at me. My eyes widened in surprise.

"What?"

He seemed like he was about to respond, but the door in front of us opened.

"Well, good luck," he waved before disappearing down the hall.

I walked through the doors slowly, stopping a good few feet in front of the Hokage's desk.

"Good morning, Lord Third," I said with a bow, "what did you want to discuss?"

"Hello, Sakura," he smiled reassuringly at me, "I guess there is no point in beating around the bush is there?"

"Whatever do you mean," I tilted my head to the side, trying to act aloof.

"I've heard from multiple sources that you have exhibited some abilities that frankly can only be considered extraordinary."

"Oh, have you?" I placed a finger to my chin as if in thought.

"It seems you have the ability to predict the future."

"Um... well that's an interesting idea isn't it." I laughed nervously. How should I go about this?

"Yes, indeed," he chuckled, "Do you have anything you want to say about it?"

"Uh..." I shifted nervously.

"You don't need to be so nervous with me," he smiled genuinely, "You are not in trouble, understand?"

"O-okay," I sighed. Should I be honest? How much should I say? How could I even describe it?

"Well?" the Hokage prompted.

"I mean..." damn, I was screwed. The Hokage raised his eyebrows in expectation.

"Who told you? And what?"

"Kakashi, your teammates, your little friend Hinata." the Hokage chuckled. "They all have reported that you have an unusual level of both skill and carelessness."

"Well... what does that have to do with anything." I grumbled. The Hokage raised a placating hand.

"You have abilities and knowledge beyond your years, and, besides that, you have expressed knowledge of multiple events before they had even happened."

"Okay... and?" I fidgeted anxiously.

"Is there anything you have to say about these abilities?"

"I mean... I guess I can kind of see the future..." I mumbled.

"Really now? Care to explain?" He leaned forward, attentive.

"It works in two ways..." I glanced off to the side. How bad would this backfire?

"I either just have the knowledge or I have a dream?"

"Could you elaborate?"

"The first way... it's kind of like they're memories. I just have the information in my brain like any fact."

"Like it's already happened for you?"

"Yeah, and the second way means that I have dreams kinda like any other."
"What sets them apart?"

"They're a lot vaguer than the memory dreams, but they clearly have people that I know in places or situations that I recognize."

"Could you give an example?"

"I saw Hina get murdered by someone." I muttered, hating to remember it.

"Really?" the Hokage became a little alarmed, "how?"

"By Zabuza on her first C rank..." I sighed, knowing this probably wouldn't blow over well, "when she came back she thought she might have seen him in the trees."

"Sakura, this is very serious," I flinched, "why didn't either of you say anything?"

"I didn't know that it was a premonition at first!" I said a little too defensively, "it was one of the first dreams I had like that.

"Ah, I understand," the Hokage's expression softened. "Thank you for the information."

"What now?" I asked earnestly, "What does that mean for me?"

"Hmm," the Hokage folded his hands on his desk, "there is one issue."

"What's that?"

"You could be lying to me, or, at least, this situation isn't completely what we think it is." He looked up at me quizzically.

"I'm not lying." I said evenly.

"Do you have any proof you can-"

"You are going to die."

The Hokage looked taken aback for a moment.

"Excuse me?"

"During the second round of the Chunin exams," I explained, "you will die."

The Hokage pursed his lips for a second and gave a slight nod.

"How will this happen?"

"The Sannin Orochimaru will work with the Sand and stage an attack." I felt a little detached as I let the words fall from my mouth. Would I have to witness all of that?

"The Kazekage will be found dead and be replaced by him. Gaara of the Sand will lose control of his Jinjuriki during his fight with Sasuke as well." a thought flashed through my mind.

"Sasuke Uchiha is also in danger of being targeted by Oro-"

"Sakura, enough, please," the Hokage raised a hand and stared forward in shock and confusion. There was silence for a minute. Had I said too much?

"If everything you said is true..." he breathed, "you are an invaluable asset to our village. Do you understand that?"

"I guess," I whispered uneasily, "What does that mean for me?

"I would like you to be under constant guard," the Hokage stood up, "the Chunin exams are coming up soon and we will need to keep you and your information safe."

I nodded slowly. An idea was forming in my head about how I could work with this.

"I will comply with you on two conditions..." I said with surprising confidence.

"You would like to make demands?" the Hokage asked with a touch of humor.

"Yes, is that okay?" I folded my arms over my chest.

"What are your conditions, young lady?"

"One," I held up a finger, "I would like Zabuza's sword as a weapon."

"What!?" the Hokage spluttered, "Sakura, you cannot be serious?"

"Oh, but I am," I huffed, "If I'm so important, I want to protect myself!" The Hokage sighed.

"And if I said no?"

"I won't be as cooperative. I'm just gonna be honest." I shrugged. He sighed again deeply.

"Okay, I will let you have the sword, but there will be great consequences if you misuse it. Understand?"

"Okay!" I had a tinge of a cheer in my voice.

"And the second condition?"

My mood immediately dropped.

"I need to explain something to you... it may take a while." I said solemnly.

"Alright, take as much time as you need." he smiled understandingly back.
