An Unexpected Confession

I happily bounced in front of the toaster, humming to myself as I waited. The past few days haven't been as horrible as I thought they would be. Hina had seemed a bit better, said something about seeing her father. I had trained a lot with both sealing and with my sword. I was living with Sasuke. I think that was what I was happiest about. My house wasn't empty anymore.

Despite the fact I was literally waiting for it, I jumped in surprise when the toast popped out of the toaster. Letting out a huff, I pulled the toast out and examined it... not done enough. With a sigh, I put it back in.

"What do you think you're doing?"

I turned around to see Sasuke leaning against the doorframe with an unimpressed glare.

"Making toast?" I answered.

He sighed heavily and marched over, carefully fishing the toast back out and holding it right in my face.

"This isn't food." he stated, "This is a fire hazard."

I gasped in offense, "Do you not like my cooking!?"

"Sakura, the only things you can cook are tomato soup and grilled cheese." Sasuke deadpanned, "Speaking of which. You can make a grilled cheese but not toast?" he glared at me incredulously. I pouted and turned away from him.

"I can't believe I have such an ungrateful brother!" I huffed. I heard Sasuke sigh.

"Just let me make breakfast." he grumbled.

"Fine!" I pouted.

I could see Sasuke turn in my peripheral vision to grab something off of the counter, until he leapt backwards into me with a shout.

"What the hell is that!?" he sputtered.

I whipped around to see Lipstick standing on the counter that Sasuke was about to use, looking as adorable as ever.

"That?" I quirked a confused eyebrow. What was his problem?

"What is that!?" He pointed a finger towards my dog, "Is it dead? Is it some weird statue thing?"

"No, she's as alive as ever." I answered, still genuinely befuddled by his terror, "That's my dog, Lipstick."

"That's a dog!?" Sasuke glanced at me before returning distrusting eyes to my pet, "Why isn't it moving? When did it get on the counter?"

"She climbed, duh!" I scoffed, "And she moves!? Jeez, it's like you've never seen a dog before."

"Not one as haunting as that." he whispered, maintaining frightened eye contact with the dog, "What does it want?"

"To say 'hi' to you, idiot!" I explained hotly, "You're new in the house! This is what dogs do!"

Sasuke didn't answer and continued with his staring contest.

"Well," I rolled my eyes, "I'll put her in my room so that you can focus on making breakfast. I want food." I picked up my dog, who gave me a solitary lick on the hand, adorable, and walked to my room.

To be perfectly honest, I'm glad that Sasuke made the food and not me, because it was really good. I said goodbye and skipped off to do my lessons with Anko, running happily through Konoha. She was probably one of my most favorite people, and through our training I began to feel a real connection with her. I was becoming great with Zabuza's sword, my arms were becoming stronger, and Anko even said that I might be able to start taking the sword home soon!

I did my trademark 'kicking the door open' act that by now was a very familiar action. Anko cooly turned around and smirked at me.

"Ready for hell, little demon?" she grinned evilly.
