I peeked into the kitchen, concerned by both who I would find in there and the nature of whatever commotion was being caused.

The latter of which was immediately calmed when I saw Kisame ecstatically thrust a box over his head, "Fuck yeah! She sent more!"

I blinked in surprise as he slammed the box down on the table, and opened it, immediately pulling out a slice of what I realized was coffee cake and practically inhaling it.

Leaning further into the room, I could see Itachi at the far, window-side table. Practically sulking over a pie while intensely reading a note in his hands. Fear gripped me once again as I was constantly reminded that at any moment he might snap and simply decide to do me in. Not that I blamed him, but my normally nihilistic attitude was being put to the test by the very real threat of instantaneous death.

Deidara sauntered into the room, glaring at Kisame who was still raving about how this was the best thing that has happened to him all week.

"Where the hell do you guys keep getting those?" he asked, trying to seem aloof, but the jealous nature of his glare told me otherwise.

He leaned over to Itachi, who held up an arm immediately, silently commanding him to move back.

"Jeez," Deridara held up his hands in mock surrender, "Okay, I won't touch your goddamn pie."

Itachi put the note down, pointedly picking up a slice and biting into it.

"Dick." Deidara muttered under his breath, leaning against the counter where Kisame was eating. He leaned forward to try and look in the box, to which Kisame scooped it up and cradled it protectively.

"I'll fucking eat your arms, explosion boy, hands off!" he shouted, mouth full.

Deidara groaned, hanging his head, "The fuck is up with you two and your magically appearing baked goods!?"

I slipped into the kitchen, pulling down a pot and moving to the fridge to gather the produce. My rice had never failed me before, so perhaps it would work its same magic here. I knew that I needed to get as many members on my side as possible. I winced as I glanced at Itachi; I had to have hope that he still had faith in Sakura. Had she not told him about any of that? Not that I'd expect her to want to do that or anything.

Getting the rice into the pot, I began chopping up the produce. Deidara quickly lost interest in Kisame and turned around to watch me instead, tilting his head as he watched me toast the rice.

Deidara was an interesting character. He was definitely young, but he still had obvious experience and a seriousness that would suit a passionate college student. I smiled to myself; that was odd to think about. Here they were thinking that I was the youngest among them, but my mental age actually put me as old as Hidan. 22, huh? I should've been in my senior year of undergrad, planning for my future in medical school, but, here I was, suddenly fifteen again. Was this any better than my last run?

I tried to avoid those thoughts, casting a look at Deidara, "Have any interesting missions lately?" Christ, I sounded, and probably looked like, a mom.

Deidara blinked in surprise and me addressing him, "Not really," he immediately slipped into his cocky attitude, "Sasori and I of course argued about the best way to collect the bounty; the guy wasn't even good enough to puppet, so I don't know why he protested me exploding him?"

I smirked, "People like him always have to have something to be displeased about."

"I know right?" he scoffed, "Who gives a shit if you disagree with my philosophy? Just let me create my art."
