So, this was a brain huh? I maneuvered the organ in my gloved hands above the dissection table. I could feel the weight of approximately three pounds of nervous tissue, fascinated by the strange firmness of it. I set it down, ready to sever the corpus callosum. Awesome, now I had a halved brain.
"Thalamus, hypothalamus, hippocampus, medulla, pons, brain stem, cerebral cortex..." I mumbled to myself as I found each region, hoping to retest my own brain to find how my memory was holding up.
Now for the hard part.
I took the two halves and put them back together. Just remember the structure of the corpus callosum, use the cells that remain to reform it. My hands began to glow as I poured chakra into the brain, feeling it penetrate the layers, weaving around the center to reattach the lobes.
"Fascinating..." Orochimaru mused as he leaned against the table, eyes illuminated by the glow of my hands. I set the brain down. The halves didn't fall apart. I picked it up in one hand, still together. Orochimaru turned to Kabuto, who leaned against the opposite wall of the room sulking, "Did you know one could do that? Recreate brain tissues?"
"We don't know if the tissues would be functioning though," Kabuto answered dryly, "She may have reattached them, but would they work?"
"We could try on your brain." I glared at him. He turned pointedly away from me with a scowl.
"I wonder how hard we could push this ability." Orochimaru hummed, "Could you perhaps create an organ?"
"I would need cells I would think." I concluded, "I don't think I could synthesize one out of nothing."
"Of course, we shall work with this later." He smiled, "Because right now, I have a mission for you to go on."
"Yes?" I turned to him in intrigue, tugging my gloves off.
"Yes, a specific man has stolen a very important scroll from me." Orochimaru frowned, clearly not too pleased with the situation, "I have an idea where he is. I want you to go fetch it for me. Think of this as a little test of your abilities." he smiled at me, "I trust you will perform well?"
"I'll do my best, Lord Orochimaru." I gave a small bow before heading out to leave.
"Oh," I heard from behind me, "Not that I do not trust you to return to me... but, Kabuto, will you accompany her?"
"What!?" we both shouted in unison. Orochimaru blinked in surprise, looking between the two of us.
"Don't tell me you both are too childish to set aside your differences for a little mission?" he smirked.
And that was how I ended up going on a mission with Kabuto, with express orders not to murder him.
I stalked ahead of Kabuto, refusing to make any attempt at conversation. He seemed to have a similar idea, walking several feet behind me in pure and utter silence.
"We aren't going to get there fast enough." he suddenly stated, shattering my attempt to pretend he wasn't there.
"Get bent," I hissed.
"Orochimaru won't be pleased if we failed to capture him because of your petty antics." Kabuto replied, annoyance creeping into his tone.
"And he won't be happy either when I return with your head on a pike." I deadpanned.
"We don't have time for this." Kabuto's voice grew in volume, causing anger to flare through me. Maybe it was time for another experiment.
"Okay!?" I whipped around with a shout, feeling my wings spring from my back, "Let's see how much dead weight I can carry!" I flew swiftly towards him. He took a few steps backwards, eyes widening as I approached, and attempted to draw a chakra scalpel. I dodged easily, grabbing him by the ankle and launching myself upwards.
