Walking home with Neji was way different from walking with Hinata. He seemed uncomfortable with holding hands, although he still allowed me to do it. He was also much quieter, but that also could've been because he was worried about Hinata. I was too.
"How was school?" Neji randomly asked.
"It was... good." I shrugged, "I couldn't pay attention though."
"I couldn't focus today either." he sighed.
"Do you think she's okay?" I asked.
"She's capable." he seemed to be trying to convince himself more than me, "She's dealt with worse than a cold."
"Do colds make people act like that?" I inquired. Something about that didn't seem right.
"Okay, maybe the flu then." he amended, "I don't know. She said she was sick."
"It was scary." I mumbled. Neji squeezes my hand slightly.
"It'll be okay. Hinata is strong." he stated firmly.
I nodded in agreement.
We spent the rest of the walk in silence, apprehensively approaching our house. I was scared. Was she really going to be okay? I regretted going to school. I should've stayed home and taken care of her.
We opened the door to hear nothing but silence. The house was completely still.
"Maybe she was right about still being asleep by time we came back." Neji muttered anxiously.
"Yeah, I hope she's just resting." I murmured, trying to keep quiet in case she was in fact sleeping.
"It seems like she made food." Neji noted, walking into the kitchen and noticing the messier appearance than normal.
"She tried to make coffee too." I added, looking at the spilled grounds that littered the counter.
"I'm surprised she left the kitchen so messy." Neji mused, "She must really not be feeling well."
"Should I go check on her?" I glanced nervously at the hallway.
"I'd say leave her be, but I'm honestly too worried." Neji sighed, "Go ahead."
I started walking down the hall, pausing at her door. I took a deep breath and slowly turned the knob, pushing it as slowly as I could.
"Why is there a dog in our house?" I heard Neji call from down the hall. I froze in place, turning to look into Hinata's room.
There she was, in bed facing the door. I felt my heart drop though when I saw that there was another arm wrapped around her. Some bastard had snuck into our house and was using my sister's compromised state to take advantage of her! The only good sleep that she had gotten in days was being ruined!
I crept slowly towards the bed, not wanting to alert either of them to the situation. Wordlessly, I carefully climbed around my sister and positioned myself over my target. The pervert looked so satisfied with himself, a relaxed smile on his face. Disgusting.
The bed shifted underneath me, as he began to stir, rolling over slightly and blinking in drowsy confusion. Not allowing him another moment to react, I punched downward right into his stomach.
He let out a startled cry of pain, lifting up a leg to kick me. I let out a shriek as I almost fell headfirst off of the bed.
"Que pasa!?" Hinata bolted upright.
"Hanabi!" Neji skidded into the room frantically. Eyes locking onto the intruder, he bolted towards him, grabbing him by the foot and yanking him onto the floor, "Get the fuck away from her!"
