I walked through the hospital, a comforting feeling of calm washing over me as I approached Lee's room. It was pleasantly lit; the window providing a goregeous natural light. Lee was sitting happily in his bed reading. He looked up from his book and instantly lit up when he saw me. Adorable.
"Sakura! You came to see me!" he smiled widely.
"Of course I did silly!" I teased, "Why wouldn't I see my bestest friend?"
"Do you really think of me that way?" Lee hopefully asked, "No one's ever told me that before."
"Would I lie to you?" I smiled at him.
"No, you definitely wouldn't." Lee answered determinedly.
"Now, what shall we do today?" I plopped down on his bed.
"I don't want to be in the hospital anymore." Lee admitted with a small pout. Adorable.
"We can go somewhere else!" I excitedly bounced on the bed.
"Where?" He tilted his head. Adorable.
"Anywhere! Park? Lunch? Library? My house? Anywhere!"
"Wow! So many options!" Lee looked overwhelmed, "I've never gone out with friends before." Poor boy.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Well, there is this really nice river I found a while ago."
"Done." I scooted in front of him.
"What are you doing?" He blushed.
"I'm going to carry you!"
"Why?"
"Because wheelchairs suck!"
Lee nervously wrapped his arms around my neck, and soon enough we were trekking out way to the river. Lee was right, it was really nice. It was a smaller size, slower moving, and passing over rocks, resulting in a pleasing sound. Hina would probably like this place.
After setting Lee down, we both sat for a while, watching the river and talking.
"Do you know how my teammates are doing?" Lee asked as we laid down on the bank of the river.
"Tenten is doing okay, and I guess Neji is doing okay too I guess." The last part was uttered with a lot of ire, causing Lee to glance at me.
"What happened with Neji?" He picked up quickly.
"Oh, I just really don't like him right now because of his fight with Hina."
"So she was who he fought. I didn't pay much attention because I was trying to psyche myself up for my own fight." He admitted, "I saw a little of the end though. It was scary."
"Yeah?" I sighed, "But, anyway, he was a major dick, so I'm mad at him right now."
"I'm sorry."
"Why are you apologizing?"
"I don't know," he shrugged, "I guess as his teammate I feel somewhat responsible."
"Well, don't feel that way." I huffed, "He knew what he was doing."
"How's everyone else doing?"
"I guess they're all doing okay. Everyone's pretty healthy."
"That's good." Lee gave a relieved smile.
"Are you okay?"
"Me? I guess so." Lee frowned a little as he thought about it, "My fight was pretty terrible, and I really don't like the hospital, but I'm not going to let it get me down!" He stated resolutely.
"I'm so proud of you." I beamed at him.
"I'm proud of you too." He grinned back.
We laid there for a while more. Mostly in silence, but occasionally one of us would make a passing comment. One of which being...
"Do you believe in angels?" Lee suddenly said, staring pensively into the clouds.
"I don't know. I guess so." I replied thoughtfully, "Billy Pope is kind of an angel. Why?"
"I think I saw one a while ago, during my first week in the hospital."
"Yeah? What did they look like?" I was very intrigued.
"It was amazing. I woke up, dazed from my recovery. There she was, at the window. She was at the sill, clad in white. The wind tossled her dark hair, a raven-haired angel. And then, as quickly as she arrived, she flew out of the window." Wow. He really was a romantic wasn't he.
"That sounds amazing." I sighed breathily, wishing I had seen a certain silver-haired angle in a haze.
"I wish I could see her again..." he sighed.
"Maybe you could." I propped myself on an elbow, "I have a sealing technique that I'm working on that can take memories and put them on paper, but... drat," I snapped an annoyed finger and flopped back down, "it's gonna take me forever to learn. But!" I sat back up again, "I have a friend that's a really good artist! She could draw them if you gave her a description."
"Really! You'd do that for me?" Lee sat up too, looking hopeful.
"Of course, anything for you." I affirmed.
"Thank you very much, Sakura." Lee smiled widely, but then his smile grew a little sad,
"Well, I think I need to go back to the hospital now. I'm getting tired."
"Okay," I stood up and prepared to pick him up again, "Let's hope Billy Pope blesses us with a safe journey!"
"Right!"
