I stretched luxuriously, extending my knees as I reached for the sky. It felt incredible just to stand again, nevermind being able to walk without help.
"Feels good, doesn't it?" Hinata stood next to me, smiling in satisfaction.
"One of the best things I've felt in a while." I replied, grinning over the field in front of us.
"Glad everything worked out well, it's not everyday when someone manages to create a near flawless mechanical leg." she huffed.
She was right about that. The process had been difficult having to not only find out how to mechanically make it work but working out the biology of it as well. If Hina hadn't studied medicine, I don't know if it would've been possible. That being said, I don't know if the process of making it could've compared to the difficulty in attaching it. Painful, arduous, and draining, I had better not break this leg because I was not going to be willing to go through that again.
"It all feels a little unreal." Hinata hummed.
"Hm?" I glanced over at her.
"After all this time, and it almost still feels like a dream." she sighed, "Just the whole scope of it: your leg, what we're capable of, how we're kinda commanding a massive army to prevent world ending disaster."
"When you put it like that it does kinda seem unreal." I scoffed, "This is going to be a big thing."
"No kidding." she grumbled, turning to watch the Kages approach us.
The Raikage walked up to me, "Lost your leg, and you still sent me lemon squares." he commented.
"Lost your arm, and you still wrote back to me." I teasingly replied.
He glared down at me for a moment before throwing his head back with laughter, "It's good that you still have spirit, kid, and plenty of attitude too."
"I lost my leg, not my sense of humor." I grinned.
The Raikage shook his head, "Seems so."
I looked back to the amassing armies below, trying to stand on my toes to see farther.
The Raikage watched me with a smirk before stepping forward, "Allow me." In a smooth moment, he bent down and with his one arm boosted me up to his shoulder, netting me perched on him.
I laughed in delight at the unexpected gesture, gazing out over the much easier to see field before smirking down at Hinata, "I'm taller than you now!"
Hinata crossed her arms over her chest with an unimpressed glare, "Congratulations, what a pinnacle of maturity you are."
My grin only widened as I saw Jugo come up behind her, using his arms to pick her up and practically toss her onto his shoulder. She let out a startled cry, wrapping her arms around his head before she realized what was happening.
Jugo and I laughed, the Raikage smiling as he maintained his gaze on the army. Hinata in turn pouted, glaring down at Jugo for a moment before reluctantly smiling.
"Who's taller now?" Jugo asked.
Hinata sat full height after a hesitant moment, and I cried in outrage when she was once again taller than me, "Curse you, you long bitch!"
That caused Hina to almost fall from laughing so hard, steadying herself before letting out an amused sigh, "Guilty as charged."
"What do you call this?" I glanced over my shoulder at the familiarly dry and deep voice, Gaara meeting my gaze with an entertained but bemused look.
