"This is it." Itachi announced as we came to the smooth stone wall on the side of a cliff, "Are you sure you want to go through with this?"
"We're already here." I answered, "Would've been kinda pointless to have you both bring me here just to back out."
"She has a point." Kisame shrugged.
Itachi shot him a glare, "I just want her to realize what she's getting into."
"I've had plenty of time to reconsider." I affirmed, "Let's do it."
They nodded, leading me inside the gaping expanse of the cavern where the other members stood either in their odd oil slick like forms, or in person.
"Is this the aforementioned Hyuga." a man who must have been 'Leader-sama' asked.
"Yes." Itachi replied, "And this other boy is her companion."
"Interesting." Leader-sama hummed, "No matter, we will test her all the same."
"A package deal, huh?" I heard a snarky voice call out.
"Why would we be inducting a mere child?" Another asked.
"This little girl is the one who killed Orochimaru?" A younger voice questioned.
"That stands to be seen." Leader-sama responded, causing quiet to fall over the group.
A test, huh? That was a little more than just an interview, but there was no time to worry about test anxiety now as Itachi and Kisame walked up to their platforms. I took the sign to step into the middle clearing, "What is my test?"
"I want to see if you truly are capable, Hinata Hyuga." the man explained, "If you are, in fact, the one who killed Orochimaru, then I expect you shall be able to hold off against one of our current members." he turned to the side, "Konan, I would like you to test her."
"Yes, Leader-sama." a blue-hair woman responded, breaking apart where she stood and reforming on the other side of the clearing in the most bizarre fashion. As the fluttering sheets of what appeared to be paper came together to reform her body, I found myself momentarily transfixed. What jutsu was this?
"Is she doing this alone?" Jugo asked.
"Yes." the man replied, "Stand off to the side."
Jugo glanced at me nervously, and I smiled at him, "Don't worry, I got this."
He nodded, moving out of the clearing and allowing me to direct my attention to the woman.
I stood, ready to begin at any moment as the woman across from me remained motionless. After a moment, Leader-sama spoke, "I understand your tactical choice to wait for her to make the first move, but I will ask that you begin the fight."
"As you wish." I stated, grabbing a fist full of darts before drawing my right arm back. If I was going to begin this fight, might as well start off with a move that would hopefully bring this to a quick close.
With a shout, I thrust my arm forward, a cannon blast of air rocketing across the arena to the woman on the other side with a load of darts in tow. It hit her dead on, but instead of the satisfying woosh of a person being thrown into a wall, a similarly satisfying image of the woman bursting into thousands of papers resulted. At least it would've been satisfying if it wasn't the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen.
I activated my Byakugan quickly, scanning the arena for any bodies. I quickly found her chakra signature floating above me as papers swirled around to form not only her but a large pair of wings. There wasn't a body though, just the chakra. Was this bitch actually paper?
