"Beth!" I cried out, busting through the door.
She whipped around, hair tied up in an adorable mom style to keep it out of the way of her cooking. She had Christian in a sling, Antonio at her side, clinging to her leg. They all stared at me as I walked inside, carrying my orders of Chick-fil-a in my arms.
"I got food!" I cried, "Uh... comida!"
Beth's face lit up as she realized she didn't have to cook for five, scooping up Antonio and placing him on her other hip as she walked up to me, "Thank you so much!"
"Yeah, no problem!" I smiled widely as I set the orders on the table, pulling out my own order of nuggets excitedly.
"Isaiah! Marco!" Beth called out loudly in her terrifying 'mom' tone, "Dinner!"
Immediately, Isaiah and Marco came tearing down the stairs, excitedly skidding to a halt when they saw the food on the table.
Isaiah threw his hands into the air, "Oh, hell yeah!"
"Hey!" Beth chastised, covering Antonio's ear, "Lenguaje!"
The boy deflated, "Lo siento."
"Cometela!" she smiled, gesturing to the table as the boys ran over to eat.
"So," I slid up next to Beth as she coaxed Antonio towards the table, "What do you think of going to college soon? Chose any yet?"
She rolled her eyes, "We already talked about this; we're going to the same one, remember?"
"Yeah!" I whined, "But I wanted to make sure you hadn't received any super amazing scholarships from anywhere else!"
She shook her head good naturedly, holding a fry out to the young boy strapped to her chest, "No, that was the only offer that I got a full ride for." she smiled at me, "I promise you that our plans haven't changed."
She began to undo the sling strapping the toddler to her chest, setting him in a highchair and placing some of the chicken nuggets and fries on the tray in front of him. The baby babbled for a bit before holding up a fry "Papa!" he cried.
"That waffle fry isn't your dad." I flatlined.
The other boys at the table started laughing, Beth rolling her eyes, "Sí, Christian, papa frita." she held up another fry.
"Papa!" he repeated.
"Sí, cometela, delicioso." she cooed, bouncing the fry around, making the toddle laugh before he caught and ate it.
Antonio peeked up, holding up a nugget, "Pollo!"
Beth beamed at him, "Sí, pollo."
Marco sighed dramatically, "I don't understand why you keep trying to teach them Spanish."
"El español es una parte importante de nuestra familia y cultura. Si lo aprendimos, deberían hacer lo mismo." Beth chastised. I wish I knew what she said, because Marco held up his hands in surrender.
Isaiah smirked at him, "Respeto."
"Cállate." Marco snapped back.
"Papá!" Christian shouted, smacking his tiny hands on the tray.
"No, papa." Beth calmly corrected.
"Papá!" he insisted.
I turned, seeing the abnormally tall Mexican man stride into the room, smiling down at us.
"Oh, hola Papá." Beth greeted, standing up, "Cómo estuvo el trabajo hoy?"
"Bueno, mija." he hugged her, kissing her on the top of her head before turning to me with a quirked brow, "Brought my children food today?"
