"What do Hyugas do?" came perhaps the millionth question from my questionably childlike companion.
"We're a clan, so for the most part we overemphasize the importance and prowess of our unique birth given qualities for the purposes of aggrandizing ourselves in the eyes of our superiors and creating even more unnecessary division between others." I growled.
Tobi gazed at me blankly.
"We hit things and look at things real good." I huffed.
Jugo suppressed a laugh, and Tobi tilted his head, "Tobi thinks that you do not like your clan very much."
"They're a bunch of tradition driven, cultish, child-abusing assholes, and the best thing I ever did for myself was move away from them." I responded.
"Is that why you left your village?" Tobi put a finger to his chin in a gesture of a question.
"No, I left my village because I was dying." I sighed.
"Dying!? At your age?" he gasped.
I almost laughed at that, "I know right? I was cursed by Orochimaru, and if I didn't go to him the mark would've eventually killed me."
"That's scary!" Tobi held his hands up to the sides of his face, "That's why you killed Orochimaru?"
"Yep, got the information I needed from him, made my mark more inert, and then left." I shrugged.
"It wasn't that simple." Jugo commented.
"Well, no, but nobody wants to hear me drone on for hours about all the snake man training and Kabuto insulting." I replied.
"Were there any people you liked in your village?" Tobi decided to continue his interview.
"Of course." I frowned, "Just because I hated my clan doesn't mean I didn't have people I cared for."
"Oh," Tobi looked off for a minute before turning back to me with a mischievous air, "Tobi thinks that a pretty girl like you must've had some boys chasing after her."
"Not many actually." I dismissed, "Most guys would just befriend me without catching feelings."
"Most?" Tobi emphasized, "Tobi thinks that Hinata is hiding a boyfriend from him." he looked up at Jugo, "Is he the boyfriend?"
Jugo glared down at Tobi with a surprising air of seriousness, "I am her companion and guardian. I protect her so that she can protect me."
"Tobi thinks that would be what a boyfriend would try to do." he argued, "But, if not the tall man, then who?"
"He had an amazing smile." I hummed.
"So there is a boyfriend!" Tobi cheered.
"Not anymore, he was left behind in my village and probably hates me now." I scoffed.
Jugo shot me a sympathetic look, and Tobi leaned closer to me, "A good smile, hm?"
"Yep, genuine and wide and joyful." I mused, turning to him with a teasing look, "I wonder if your smile is as good?"
Tobi turned away in mock bashfulness, "Tobi thinks that you're teasing him; you shouldn't do that if you already have a boyfriend." he looked back at me, "Was he a Hyuga?"
"Absolutely not." I spat, "He was excitable, and affectionate, and loyal, kinda like a puppy, and nothing like a Hyuga."
"Aw, Tobi loves puppies." he hummed.
"I bet you do." I muttered.
"Tobi wonders what you think of the other Akatsuki members." Amazing how quickly he could jump topics, "Perhaps you like one of them?" he insinuated.
