Chapter 54

JAYNE'S POV

A flash of light appeared and I saw him. My dad... Sirius Black. "Get away from my godson" he said and he punched Lucius Malfoy! That made me smile. He deserved it after all the abuse he put Draco through. Then there were more and more flashes of light. It was other members of the order. Uncle Remus appeared and he ripped the death eater off me. I grabbed my wand and ran. There were spells flying everywhere. I saw Bellatrix running and I knew it was my chance. She went out a door and I pointed my wand at her. She did the same. We stood there facing each other, waiting. She stared at me and laughed. "Your Sirius's dear daughter" she asked. "Yes, and you killed my mother." I said. My eyes filled with tears. "Yes, I remember that filthy muggle. She must not have loved you because she begged for death." she said cackling. "Shut up" I yelled. "But then again the cruciatus curse tends to do that." she said. "You tortured her?" I asked. She just laughed. "Expel-" I started. "Stupefy" she yelled and I flew backwards hitting the wall. "Let's see if you beg for death like your pathetic mother" she said. "Do your worst bitch" I spat. "Crucio" she said and the spell engulfed me like a flame. It was like a thousand knives stabbing me at once. I screamed as I thrashed on the floor. I felt as if my lungs might burst or my vocal cords might tear. My body was covered in sweat and tears streamed down my face. Then it stopped and Bellatrix was across the room. Tonks ran over and stood in front of me kneeling down. "Jayne, are you alright?" she asked. "Don't let her get away" I choked out and my voice was raspy as I attempted to sit up. When Tonks turned back Bellatrix was gone. "Come on sweetie" she said, helping me up. She kept her wand drawn as she took me back in the room where the fight was. When we walked back in, it was silent. My friends were huddled in a group behind the rock. Hermione was crying on Rons shoulder. Harry was gone and so was my dad. "Jayne! What happened?" Uncle Remus said running over. "Bellatrix used the cruciatus curse on her" Tonks whispered. Hermione ran over and hugged me. "I'm so sorry Jayne" she whispered. "Where's my dad? And- And where's Harry?" I asked. My voice was shaky. Uncle Remus looked at me and his face was broken. "Uncle Remus?" I asked. "Harry is outside, we need to stay here." he said. "Ok? Where's dad?" I asked. "I'm so sorry Jayne." he said. No. No No No. This isn't happening. There was a pit in my stomach and my hands shook. "Uncle Remus, Where is he? Take me to him right now!" I yelled. My friends started but I didn't care. "Jayne, he's gone. He went into the Veil Of Death." Uncle Remus said, his voice cracked. I collapsed to my knees. He pulled me into his arms and I hit his chest. "No, you're lying. Please say you're lying." I begged. "I'm sorry Jayne" he whispered. I just sobbed. "No. I didn't get to say goodbye." I cried. There was a crash outside so I ran out of the room. Dumbledore stood there with Harry as Aurors filled the room. Uncle Remus held me up because I was so weak from the curse. Harry saw me and ran over. He pulled into his arms and I cried. "He's gone," I said. "I know" he whispered. I stepped back and wobbled. Uncle Remus held me again. "Who did it? Who killed him?" I asked. "Jayne, that-" Uncle Remus started. "Tell me!" I yelled. "Lucius Malfoy. He killed your dad." Harry said. My veins iced. Draco. How am I supposed to tell him his dad killed mine? "Come on Jayne, let's get you back to Hogwarts. You need to get checked out." Tonks said. "What happened?" Harry asked. "Bellatrix Lestrange tortured her with the cruciatus curse." Tonks answered. "Merlin Jayne, come on" he said. Everyone apperated back at Hogwarts and we all went to the hospital wing to be checked out. Everyone was talking and stuff but I just sat there on my cot. I felt so numb and broken. I just got my dad back and now he is gone forever. I didn't get a goodbye.

"Where is she?" a loud voice yelled from outside. Draco. "I want to see her." he yelled as he pushed past everyone. Harry and Ron stood in front of him blocking his path. "Get out of the way Potter, now. I mean it" he yelled. "She doesn't want to see you right now." Ron said. "What do you know about Weaselbee?" he spat. "Trust me Draco. Just leave her alone. She has been through too much to deal with you right now." Harry said. Ginny walked up to him and slapped him across the face. I just watched in shock. Harry was right. I don't want to see him. I can't look into his eyes right now. "What the bloody hell?" He yelled. "Sirius is dead. And your Father killed him. So leave. She doesn't want anything to do with you." Ginny yelled. I felt a tear fall from my cheek as those words left Ginny's mouth. Draco stood there. His jaw was on the floor. "Is that- true?" he asked Harry quietly. He nodded. I got up and walked over. My body still aches from the curse. I looked up at him. "Jayne I- I'm so-" he started. "Please just go," I whispered. He looked at me and nodded. Then he disappeared. I went back and sat down and stared at the floor. I thought about all the things I will never get to do with my dad. He won't see me graduate. I'll get to have him walk me down the aisle or give his grandkids. We won't get to be a proper family.

DRACO'S POV

My heart raced and I couldn't breathe as I walked down the hallways. I practically ran to my room and got my emergency portkey that takes me home. I grabbed it and in one second I was whipped to my house. I walked in the gates and into my house. "Mum?" I called out and she walked in. "Draco, what are you doing? You shouldn't be here right now." she said. She was out of breath and her eyes were worried. "Where is he?" I asked. "I don't know what-" she started. "Where is he?" I demanded, my voice louder. "In his study" she said quietly. I stormed down the hall and flung open the door. "Draco, you are to knoc-" he started. "You killed Sirius Black?" I roared. He looked at me with a smug look. "Yes." he said plainly, taking a sip of his scotch. "Why? Why did you kill him?" I screamed. "Simple, I told you to take care of the girl or I would." he said. "What are you talking about? I was handling it. I was going to-" I started. " Don't bullshit a bullshitter. It was really a two birds one stone situation. I killed a member of the order and got rid of that pathetic girlfriend of yours" he said putting the word girlfriend in air quotes. "I don't understand." I said. He scoffed and rolled his eyes as he stood up. "Do you really think she will forgive you? And even if she tries to everytime she looks at you she will be reminded of her dad being murdered in cold blood." he said, smirking. Suddenly, men in uniforms burst in. "Lucius Malfoy, you are arrested for the murder of Sirius Black and the attempted theft of a prophecy at the Department of Ministries" they said taking my father. "I did no such thing" he lied. "We heard you just confess." one said. "Draco, tell them that wasn't true." he said. I just stared at him as they dragged him out with a smug look. "What was the thing you told me father, don't bullshit a bullshitter." I said and they disappeared. Then I went to comfort my mother. She deserved better.
