Mystery
JAYNE'S POV
"Well that was something." Theo said, exhaling loudly. We were walking quickly down the hall as far from the Great Hall as I could get. "Yeah" I said. "Who was that kid? Draco?" he asked. "Draco Malfoy. He's... Well it's a long story." I said. "You are quite the mystery, aren't you Jayne." he said. I looked at him and he was smiling at me. "I guess" I said. When I looked down, I noticed I had begun to fidget with my necklace without even realizing it. "We should get to class." he said. I nodded and we went to charms. Charms were Slytherin and Huflepuff. Theo and I walked in and sat at the back of the class. Cedric and his friends walked in. I kept my head down hoping they would just walk right by but of course I'm not that lucky. They stopped right in front of our desk snickering at each other. "Hey Jayne, did you miss me?" Cedric asked. "Not in the slightest," I said as I pulled out my materials trying to ignore them. They all laughed. "I'm hurt," he said, clutching his heart. "You know we didn't think you would show your face here again this year." Luke said. "And why is that?" I said in a bored voice. "We thought after Blaise taught you a lesson you would get a clue. But I guess sluts never learn" Luke said placing his hands on my desk and leaning closer to me. I froze and just kept my head down. "Woah. What the bloody hell is wrong with all?" Theo yelled standing up. "Awww did Jayne get a bodyguard. Does she pay you or just fuck you?" Cedric asked. "You need to leave before I lose my temper." he said calmly. His fists were clenching. "Theo don't," I whispered, grabbing his hand. "Is that a threatening new guy?" Luke asked. "Stop, all of you." I said standing between them. Just then Draco walked in. Great, this is gonna be a bloodbath. "Jayne, tell us, has Draco met your new fuckbuddy?" Cedric asked and they all laughed. Shit. Draco looked at me and I knew the look in his eyes. "Draco we aren't-" I started. Draco stormed over and grabbed Cedric slamming him into the floor. "I told you to stay away from her. If I have to warn you again, I'm going to put you in a grave." he seethed. By now everyone was staring. I grabbed his arm and pulled him off. "Draco, enough. Let him go." I said. "Jayne-" he started. Theo walked over and tried to pull him off. "Come on mate, he's had enough," Theo said. Draco whipped his head around and grabbed Theo by the collar. "Who the fuck are you?" he yelled. "Draco! Stop!" I yelled. Theo put his hands up in surrender. "Hey we are just friends." he said. I've had enough of this. I grabbed Draco by the tie and dragged him out of the room. I pulled him all the way into the abandoned girls bathroom. "Draco, what the bloody hell are you doing?" I yelled. He stood there silent. "You left this morning." he said. "What?" I asked. "You left." he repeated. I looked at him confused. "So?" I asked. "Well, did something happen? Like did you see something?" he asked, looking me in the eyes. Yeah, your dark mark. "No? Why?" I said calmly. "Nothing, nevermind." he said. "Draco, you know you can still talk to me. I'm still here for you and I always will be. Just because we aren't together doesn't mean I stopped lovi-" I started. He looked up and at me and I stopped mid word. "Doesn't mean we can't talk. Ok?" I said. "Yes, it does. I don't want to talk to you Jayne. I'm over you." he said. "Really? Is that why you just threatened Cedric and grabbed Theo?" I asked. He didn't say anything. "What about last night?" I asked. "What about it?" he mumbled. "The nightmare." I said. "Yeah so, you already knew about those." he said. His eyes were glued to the floor. "Yeah, but Draco you were screaming and crying. When I got there you were shaking. Something was different." I said. My eyes started to water as I remembered the fear in his eyes. "It was nothing. Just a bad dream. Forget it, ok?" he said. "Draco-" I started. "What did I tell you? It's Malfoy." he snapped. I just looked at him. I know we broke up but this isn't him. I want to know why he got the dark mark. It must have something to do with why he is so broken. With that nightmare. I don't know the process of getting the dark mark but I don't think it's fun. I have to find out more about it so I can help him. "Fine... Malfoy. I'm going to go. But I'll always be here. You can't make me stop caring about you ok? And stop beating everyone up. I don't need you to defend me. I can defend myself." I said and I left him in the bathroom. It was my study period so I went to the library in hopes of researching my idea. I walked in and had the perfect idea of where to look. I snuck to the back of the library. I got to the door of the restricted section and almost got in when I was interrupted. "Miss Black, can I help you with something?" Miss Pince asked, glaring at me. "Um oh no, sorry. I was just, nevermind." I said. "The restricted section is off limits without special permission from a professor or myself." she said. "Ok, can I have special permission?" I asked hopefully. She rolled her eyes and walked away. "Fine, rude." I thought to myself. I sat at my desk and began to read a book to pass time. I got a few chapters in when I was interrupted. "Hey Jayne." I looked up and saw Harry, Ron and Hermione standing in front of me. "Hey guys, what's up?" I asked. "Is it true?" Harry asked. He was furious, I could tell. I wasn't quite sure why though. "What?" I asked. "Blaise. We heard he's back." Hermione said softly. "Oh, um yeah. It's true." I mumbled. "Godric's Sake!" Harry yelled, punching the wall. I flinched slightly. "Shhhhhhh" Miss Pince said glaring at us. "Bloody Hell mate, calm down." Ron said. "No, I'm not going to calm down. As long as that git is here, Jayne isn't safe. I'm going to Dumbledore." Harry said, turning on his heel. "Harry!" I said, following him. "Harry, I can defend myself." I said. He scoffed. "Excuse me. What was that?" I asked. We kept walking down the hall. He was fast and I struggled to keep up. "Nothing, I'm just saying no matter how good you are at defending yourself, you can't have your guard up 100% of the time." he said. We arrived at Dumbledore's office and he knocked. "Harry, stop." I said. He just waited. "Come in." a voice boomed. Harry grabbed my arm and pulled me inside Dumbledore's office. This should be interesting.
