Chapter 58

Secrets

JAYNE'S POV

"Wake Up!!!!!" Hermione yelled and I opened my eyes. The sun came through the windows and I groaned. "Get ready, Breakfast is soon," Ginny cheered. Great, everyone is so happy. Yay. I rolled out of bed and hopped in the shower. I got dressed, throwing on some jeans and a white blouse with my green cardigan over it. I tucked Draco's necklace under the blouse and put my wand in my pocket. Then I dragged my trunk downstairs and sat down for breakfast. "Mum made cinnamon rolls," Ron said excitedly. I smiled at him as he put one on my plate. I tried to eat but only managed to get down a half. I always felt bad but Mrs. Weasley had probably grown accustomed to me eating very little by now. We all appeared at the station and my hands began to shake as we walked in. Harry noticed and took my hand. I gave him a small smile. We got to the Platform and we all ran through the wall. I immediately took notice of the huge Hogwarts Express. The familiarity was comforting. I saw hundreds of parents weeping as they hugged their children goodbye and it reminded me how utterly alone I am. We all got on the train and found a compartment. Ginny went off to find Dean, her new boyfriend.  I don't quite understand why they are dating. I always thought Ginny had a crush on Harry and I caught Harry looking at Ginny a couple times the way Draco used to look at me. Maybe they will find their way to each other. Just like me and Draco might. Yeah, we might. We all sat in the compartment and they began talking. I needed to breathe and I couldn't. We were here. On our way to Hogwarts. I can't avoid it anymore. "I need the loo" I said and I slipped out of the compartment. I walked to the bathroom and shut the door. "Mufflito" I mumbled, pointing my wand at the door. Once it was spelled, I screamed. I splashed some water on my face and opened the door. I headed back for the compartment. When I arrived at our door, I heard Harry, Ron, and Hermione talking. I pressed my ear against the door to listen in on their conversation. "It's happened, you saw" Harry exclaimed. "I told you I don't know what I saw." Hermione said. "Well then what do you suppose he was doing there, browsing for furniture?" Harry asked. "It's a creepy shop, he's a creepy bloke." Ron said. "Maybe or maybe it's finally happened. Malfoy finally became what we all knew he would. A death eater." Harry spat. "Harry!" Hermione scolded. "I'm just saying. If it has, I don't want Jayne anywhere near him." Harry said. "Well they broke up and even if they didn't, you can't control what she does Harry." Hermione said. "Yes I can. If she finds out, she will try to save him. And she can't. Malfoy is a lost cause. I don't want him to hurt her...again." Harry said. "I agree mate. You have to admit he has a point Mione." Ron said. Hermione said nothing. "That family is dangerous. Everything they touch, dies. I won't let Jayne be next." Harry said firmly. "Harry, it's good that you want to protect her. We all do, but you have to let her live her life. Even if it means making a mistake or two." Hermione said. Harry just scoffed. I waited a moment and then opened the door. "Hey, what are you talking about?" I asked as I sat down. "Nothing, we are arriving soon so let's get dressed ok?" Hermione said. I looked at Harry then left with Hermione. We arrived at school shortly after and went in. When we arrived at the Great Hall, I said bye to Ron, Hermione and Ginny but Harry had disappeared somewhere. I nervously sat down at the Slytherin table. Draco was nowhere to be found. Then Harry walked in with blood on his face and shirt. What the bloody hell? My thoughts were interrupted by a squealing voice. "Hey Jayne!" I turned around and Cami and Kenz were sitting right in front of me. "Hey guys" I said smiling at them. "I missed you so much!" Kenz said. "Me too, how was your summer?" I asked. "Great, I traveled around Europe with my parents. It was amazing!" Cami said. "Much to my parents' disapproval, I went to Hawaii with my muggle friend Hailey. It was brilliant!" Kenz said. "What did you do?" Cami asked. "I stayed at the burrow with the Weasleys." I said smiling. "You stayed with those Blood Traitors," Crabbe said from across the table. "Shut Up Crabbe" they said in sync. "Harry wanted me with him, you know after everything with Sirius." I mumbled. "Oh yeah, how are you?" Kenz asked. "Fine," I said. I let my eyes wander as they continued talking about their summers. Then I saw him. He walked in wearing that classy black suit. He wore the same thing, but something was different. His hair was longer. It wasn't as styled. His skin was paler. His eyes were sunken and his as he sat down I noticed his left hand twitch. I couldn't help but look but the second he looked over at me, our eyes met and heart broke all over again. I couldn't do it. "I have to go," I said quickly standing up. "But the sorting and the feast?" Cami said but I was gone. I ran all the way to the Astronomy Tower. I know we broke up here but this is also where we got together. It's where he told me he loved me for the first time. That trumps everything. I leaned against the railing and stared at the stars. A part of me wanted him to come up here. To show up and we talk and get back together and it's all fine. But the other part knows that can't happen. I pull the necklace out and begin to fidget with it as I stare at the stars and wonder how I will ever get him back.

DRACO'S POV

I walked into the Great Hall and I saw her. I saw Jayne. My beautiful Jayne. But she's not mine anymore. But she saw me and she left. She ran away. But it's ok. I would run too.
