Jaden
I didn't expect to spend my day spying on my best friend's boyfriend at the mall.
"Mony, didn't you say that he said that nothing is going on?"
"He is keeping secrets. We never do secrets. He won't tell me about this job, and he's always getting texts from her."
My eyes widen, "you did not go through his phone!"
"I didn't have a choice. He is deleting his messages-"
I pull her into the closest store near us.
"Diamond, stop it. You are being irrational. Ray isn't doing anything behind your back. He is just hanging out with a friend. You know he loves you."
She gives me a look of doubt.
"You know he loves you."
She nods slowly.
"Now promise me, no more going through his things. You guys have been together for like a decade. You know you trust him."
She takes a deep breath, "you're right. You're right. This is stupid. Let's just-"
"Diamond, Madison, do you two want to join us?"
You know I'm not surprised that she found us this quickly.
We turn around to the girl Diamond is so intimidated by.
I speak up, "we were just lea-"
"Of course, we'll join you guys." I look at Mony like she's crazy.
She walks past us both, and Jaden holds me back. Yes, her name is Jaden.
"Madison, it's better this way. I can tell this is hard for you, and I apologize, but please trust our process."
That day we met her, it was just a shock for all.
She wasn't intimidated in the slightest. She takes Diamond's jealousy as a joke. Mostly because she has said multiple times that she is engaged. This is also the reason she is no real threat.
She is just completing a job with Raymond.
But they advised me not to talk about it with Mony, and it's weird.
"Come on, tell me about yourself."
We walk out of the store.
Mony completely forgot about our existence as she and Raymond are all lovey-dovey for no particular reason.
"Jaden, there's nothing much. I'm still in school, I work in a grocery store, plus since it's summertime, I also take night shifts in a factory. It's not the greatest, but it pays the bills. In my free time, I usually volunteer at the hospital or with the little leagues. What about you?"
She chuckles, "that was a lot. I graduated from my three-year program a couple of months ago, the same day my boyfriend of two years proposed. We have a business that's currently thriving, and we are hoping to get married in September."
"That sounds great for you. What is his name?"
"Oh, it's Kyle here's a silly picture of us."
She shows me a picture of them. It looks like they dyed their hair a crazy pink colour, but they are relaxing in the grass.
"You guys seem to be on the same wavelength."
"Nah, he's always brooding. But we do have similar personalities. I'm just more outgoing."
I nod, "you wanna ditch em for a bit. She's going to be overly affectionate to try and get on your nerves, and seeing her fail so hard isn't the type of show I'd like to see... today."
