Jayden and I are out to dinner at Kelseys Original Roadhouse.
Jayden insists on paying for everything. It annoys me.
"So what are you thinking about getting?" he asks me.
I shrug, "I don't know it's between a basic burger with the pretzel bun and potato skins. You?"
"I'm getting ribs." He simply says.
Soon enough a waiter comes by and I still had no idea what I wanted.
"Are you ready to order?" She asks us. Jayden speaks up.
"Yes, we would like to get the rib and wing combo, the full rack of ribs. All of it in barbecue. The ribs between medium and well. We would also like a burger with one chuck pattie with shredded lettuce, with ketchup, and mayo all in a pretzel bun sided with regular fries. Along with the cheese and bacon potato skins and chicken fingers. For the drinks, we will both have a sprite."
When he's done I drop my jaw. He has got to be joking. In my mind, I'm begging him to take it back. All he does is smirk at me.
"Alright, I will say your order to you... Rib and wing combo barbecue sided with fries, full rack of ribs barbecue. The ribs done medium-well. A chuck burger with shredded lettuce, ketchup and mayo in a pretzel bun, sided with fries. Cheese and bacon potato skins and chicken fingers with sprite for the both of you. Correct?" She says.
Jay nods.
Hearing it for a second time makes my pockets hurt. He just ordered like a hundred dollars in food. I don't know who he thinks is eating all that food because it isn't me.
Our waiter walks away.
I kick him in the legs, "Are you insane!"
"What's wrong?" he smiles.
"Jayden I know you can eat the same amount as two cows every day but I hope you realized you just ordered a hundred dollars of food for basically yourself."
"You haven't eaten all day, I'm treating my girlfriend to dinner, what's wrong with that?" His smile gets wider when he calls me his girlfriend.
Three waiters came out holding plates of food. Jayden just loves embarrassing me in public. Everyone was staring at us. We thanked the waiters and I turn back to Jay.
"This doesn't make it easier to choose."
"Then I'll choose for you," he says.
Through my protests, he continues to put food in front of me.
I end up with two wings, two pieces of the half rack, the burger, the potato skins and two chicken fingers with the fries. Along with the sprite.
Jayden had the rest of the ribs and wings, fries, two potato skins. Along with a single chicken finger and chocolate chip cookie that came with the fingers. With sprite.
Before we could dig in Jayden got a phone call. He went out of the restaurant to answer it.
I don't want to eat without him there so I scroll through my phone. I actually called our waiter back and paid for our whole meal. And I tipped her. After that, I went back on my phone.
"Interesting to see you here Madison." I look up and pull the man into a hug.
I laugh, "it has been a while, how are you, Noah?" I pull away.
"I'm great. I got a girlfriend she is over there." He pointed behind his shoulder.
I look and wave at her. She smiles and waves back. "What's her name?"
