What do you mean he's gone!
I woke up to my phone going off. I am getting a call from Cartel's old phone number. He never calls me from that number.
I rub my eyes as they fully adjust to the light, "hello?"
"Madison?"
That's not Cay...
"Sam?" I question.
"Have you seen Caleb, he hasn't been home for two weeks and I'm starting to worry?"
What, now she's starting to worry? It's nearly 6 am in Chicago. Hold up did she say two weeks? "Sam, what do you mean he hasn't been home for two weeks? He was here last week for a competition, he should've been home five days ago."
"He was with you?" She whispers.
Ugh, "Sam it's not like that, I told him that he's hurt and that he should go home and make up with you." I yawn, it's too early for this,
"What do you mean he's hurt?"
Was this girl stupid, "Caleb is like desperately in love with you and you hurt him when you dumped him so he's all angry and whatnot looking for anything to make him forget, which is why he came to me in the first place."
Guilt tugs at her, "I just wanted to teach him a lesson not to crush him. But now he's gone and I don't know what to do!"
"What do you mean he's gone! Caleb isn't the safest person Sam! How do you think he pays for your apartment or has all these things. He is technically a missing child who was taken and raised by strangers. He's probably doing a job or something."
"He's not. I asked his friends down at the skate park, they haven't seen him either. I have checked everywhere Madison!"
"Everywhere? Really?" I am so sleepy.
She's frustrated, "well if you know where he is or have any idea would ya mind sharing it with me!"
"Where'd you guys go on your first date?" I ask rhetorically.
"You think he's at chick-fil- A?"
"No, I think he's at the tunnel, he used to sleep out there when he felt as if he was in trouble. It's a form of discipline he made for himself since he grew up without parent figures..."
"You are a genius. Thank you." She was going to hang up, I stop her.
"Wait Sam."
"Yes?"
"Don't hurt him. He'd never purposely torment you the way he feels you are doing to him. Remember tough exterior, teddy bear interior."
"I got you. I'll find him no matter what."
"Alright, tell me when you find him."
"Of course."
That's the end of my wake up call.
I can hit a couple more Z's.
Third-person POV
*In an apartment down in Englewood, Chicago*
Sam is pacing around trying to figure out what to do. It is 6:30 am in Chicago. She is wide awake and indecisive.
"Samantha get your head on straight!" She tells herself.
She wants to leave right away though, Caleb has always told her to never go out before 8:00.
The Englewood neighbourhood isn't the safest place. Though there is nowhere else they can call home.
