A broken family? A happy family.
*meanwhile in Jayden's lounge*
Jayden's POV
"My parents are getting divorced?" He said.
"What?" Madison questioned him.
"My parents are getting divorced," James repeated loud and clear.
It's been a long time coming. This is what's best.
"Why are you so happy and why are you silent?" Madison asked the both of us.
I glanced at James and in unison, we said, "it's not that important."
Madison groaned in frustration because she knew we weren't going to budge. She decided to write in her journal.
"Who are you going to live with now?" She whispered to herself. I don't think she realized that she said that out loud.
I watched James' expression carefully. The judicial system is different in Canada than in other places. The child has no say in which parent they would like to live with. Considering James is only twelve, he probably won't even be allowed to say his preference.
He had a grimace on his face. Not a good sign...
"They both want you, don't they?" I asked.
Mads' ears perked up at my question.
James nodded slowly. I knew that he wanted to live with his mom. It was clear that both parents wanted full custody. Proving that one parent is unfit to care for James will be hard.
James' father owns a law from. I knew this wasn't going to be easy. The strange thing about this all would be why James' father would want him...
Plus if they aren't careful the Xaviers can lose James altogether.
Madison's POV
I don't know how divorces work. I can't say much in the boys' conversation.
It's difficult to write when I can physically see the storm in James' eyes and the concern in Jayden's.
It was quiet. Everyone was thinking. I wasn't writing but I was observing.
Jay was deep in thought probably processing a court case in his head. Then James, he subconsciously grabbed his black sketchbook. Meaning he's doing something that has to do with Jayden.
"How long does a divorce need to go on before it's approved?" I was curious and I knew that they had answers.
Jayden answered me, "around three months."
"James how many months has it been?" I questioned.
"One and a half," he said not looking up from his sketchbook.
I laid back on the floor. More questions flooded my head.
"Isn't there a thing where both parents get custody."
"Yes..." James said very slowly.
"Can we stop talking about this I'm sure you have realized that this is none of our business and James is uncomfortable," Jayden said too bluntly, even for him.
He was answered with silence.
James' POV
Jayden is such a moron. Was he trying to put more questions into Aden's head?
I don't care if he can't help it. I won't baby him. He wants to act mature so he'll get treated like a grown-up.
He was the youngest person in the room.
These next couple of months are going to be a roller coaster.
I got real lazy with this one😅.Although I felt like I wasn't doing James justice so far. So I'm here for more James.
Catch y'all later.
I'll be back in a flash.
