Boys

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

"HEY, whose pounding on the door like a police officer."

Said my mom as she went to open the front door.

I was in the middle of writing a poem when I heard, "Can Madison come out today?"

I knew that voice. It was Kira. What was she doing here? We haven't talked in months. I looked out my window and saw her talking with my mom. And I also saw James hiding at the side of my porch. I laughed to myself and walked towards the door.

I was granted permission to go out. When I closed my door, I immediately went to the side of my porch and looked at James questioningly.

He got up and gave Kira five dollars. I was so confused.

"He said he'd give me five dollars if I asked your mom to come out. My job here is done," Kira said, walking away.

"Are you scared of my mother James?"

"No, I just thought it would be weird if I asked. Now let's go. Jayden should be waiting for us."

"HEY KIRA. WAIT!" I screamed in her direction.

I ran towards her. "Why don't you hang out with us? Like old times."

"I don't know, Madison. I don't want to interrupt the two of you." She was so unsure of herself.

I looked at her with pleading eyes. I knew what would get her to accept. "Jayden is going to be with us," I smirked.

Her eyes lit up. She had a thing for Jay. I'm the only one who knew about it.

"Fine, since you want me there, I guess I'll come." She smiled.

I laughed at her, and all three of us walked towards the pirate park. Well, we walked for about a minute before running the rest of the way. James got there first, followed by Kira. It wasn't fair. They were all 100m dashers. I'm more of a 1500m runner.

It was still pretty early in the afternoon, so no one was at the park other than us. We liked being alone in the park. Yes, it was hot with the noon sun still shining bright but, we made the most of it. Jayden was waiting for us at the top of the pirate ship. He yelled, "Hey, Kira, come here!" He made eye contact with me, and I got the memo and took James away for a minute.

James and I haven't spent much time together since he moved. I was really upset with him when he left. He told me he was moving, but he never told me when he left. I found out when I went to his house one day, and a stranger opened the door.

I couldn't stay angry forever. James is here now, and I shouldn't spend my time thinking about him somewhere else when he was right in front of me.

I went to sit on the swings, and I watched James do flips on the ladders. I noticed that Jayden and Kira were walking towards our place. There was a rule. No one. I meant it when I said no one is to be at our place other than Jay and me.

"MORGAN!" I yelled into the air. Everyone stopped in their tracks. James came to my side as I approached Jayden. I stopped around 10 meters away from them and asked them where did they think they were going.

Jayden and Kira started walking towards us. Then they got faster. In about 9 seconds, they attacked.

I was in the air, screaming. I closed my eyes and held onto whatever I could.

"Madison, you are going to kill me from lack of oxygen. Open your eyes," Jayden grunted.

I opened one eye. I was still off the ground. I opened my other eye and blinked a couple of times to clear my vision. I was eye to eye with blue orbs. Jayden. I looked at where I was positioned. I was on Jayden's shoulders, grasping his head for dear life.
