Are you serious?
"Hey Cass," I greet her while walking into the Paediatric ward.
"So you and Jayden huh?" As I hear the words I make an abrupt stop. I turn to look at Cass and she is just typing away on the computer. "What are you talking about," I ask her.
"Madison I am not stupid and you both are in public, don't think I didn't see you two in the parking lot." She says.
I hold my hands up in defence, "all we did was talk."
"Child, I saw him kissing the top of your head." She eyes me while still typing.
"It was friendly!" I exclaim.
She curses at me in Tagalog and I walk away.
For the past couple of weeks, I've been hanging out with a 12-year-old girl named Sophia. Since she's older than the kids I am usually with, we talk most of the time.
I knock on her door and she grants me entry. She's an only child and only has her dad. He's not around much, always working.
"Hey Soph, how you doing."
She ignores me and types away on her iPad.
"Sophie talk to me."
She looks up at me. Her eyes are red and glossy. She's been crying.
She sniffles before speaking, "he's not coming Madison. He's not coming until he picks me up."
Sophie is getting her left hand amputated in a week.
"I'm sure your dad will make it up to you," I tell her.
She scoffs, "I doubt it. The only thing he cares about is his job."
I give her a sad smile. No matter how much I try I know she won't change her opinion on her dad.
"So how's Timmy?" I ask her. She's always messaging the same person, I've caught on.
Soph freezes at my question. "Timmy? I don't know a Timmy, whose Timmy?"
"Whose they boy your always video chatting with? You're always texting him too." I smirk at her.
"So what's going on with you and Dr.Baker's apprentice?" She eyes me.
"Sophia Romero, were you eavesdropping before I came in here?" I poke her.
"What else am I supposed to do! Hospital drama is juicy. And you are obviously lying about your relationship with Jayden."
I swear kids talk too much. You think they don't understand but they are always listening.
Sophia is a quiet girl who listens. She reminds me of a young Aaro.
"Sophia you have no idea what you are talking about," I tell her.
She laughs, "so I bet you haven't heard of the rumours?"
Oh, she's good.
"Okay miss I hear all, let it rip."
"Okay, first you need to tell that man of yours, that he should stop talking about you so much. The lady workers are jealous and are starting to turn on you. Well except Cassandra of course she has the full support of you both."
Jealousy is a bad look ladies...
"Is that all?" I press.
"I can see the parking lot out this window. You aren't fooling anyone Madison."
I glare at the pre-teen as she continues to spill the tea.
"Evelyn wants to slip you a bad piece of fruit. I heard she tried to hit on Jayden not too long ago repeatedly and he eventually snapped at her."
