NerdJayden and I were fighting on the mat. We were arguing about basketball teams. I have always been an OKC fan at heart. Only because my favourite player is Westbrook. So my loyalty lies with whichever team Westbrook is on.
I told Jayden that OKC was going to beat the Heat. He disagreed. So, I challenged him to a fight. We have grown a lot. Jayden has grown too much. He was 5'5 and a half. He was barely 12 years old. I was I don't know 4'8.
The mat just seemed to keep getting smaller. I'm kidding, we were growing. In about a year we won't be able to use this thing anymore.
Jayden cheats every time we fight on this thing. He likes to say he doesn't have a weakness. I know he does I just haven't found it yet.
Since Jayden is much larger than be he weighs a lot more and he could easily use that to his advantage. So he did. As I was pinned I blew air in his face. He immediately got off of me and ran to the restroom, covering his eyes. I had no idea what just happened.
I walked to the restroom and lightly tapped on the door, "Jay? Are you alright?"
"Madison I think you should go home." He said from behind the door.
What? How did everything take a full 180? "Jayden do you think I should go home or do you want me to go home?" I said, stressing the words 'think' and 'want'.
"I need you to go home." His voice was strained.
"I have done something wrong, haven't I?" I was very confused.
He let out a frustrated breathe, "Madison please leave now, I'm not asking I am demanding."
I backed away from the door feeling hurt. I had no clue what I did and he was being difficult. I walked into the kitchen to grab my sweater. Beth was seated on the counter drinking tea, I had nothing to say to her. So I walked right passed her and to the front door.
"Madison? Is there a problem?" She said approaching the door.
I was too angry to talk. Therefore, I gave her a look and walked out the door. Once I stepped outside I let out a defeated sigh. I hadn't realized how exhausted I had been. I was still on Jaydens porch when I heard Beth at the top of her lungs yell, "JAYDEN WILLIAM MORGAN WHAT DID YOU DO TO THAT GIRL?"
I laughed to myself and headed home. I didn't go home, I went for a walk and ended up at my school. Some boys I knew were out playing basketball. They needed another player so I joined them. It got me distracted from Jayden's poor attitude.
A couple of days later Jay invited me to the alien park and he apologized for his outburst but didn't explain the cause of it. He was playing it off and I let him because I didn't want this day to end with one of us being upset.
The following week, I went for a walk with my journal in hand, writing down whatever interesting thoughts I was having. I ended up at Jay's house. My keys were always on me. I walked into the house and found Beth in the living room.
"Hey, mom," I said leaning over the wall behind her. I wanted to scare her.
"Maddie if you thought that was going to scare me try harder, I graduated high school at the age of fourteen, meaning I started when I was eleven. Nothing scares me." She laughed at my lame attempt.
"Fine, next time. Where is he?"
"His room, knock first. He's studying." She said while eating tortilla chips.
"He's always studying." I sighed.
"Well you know he has good intentions," Beth explained.
"I know, we'll talk later Beth."
