I had a free 'last period' and I knew that first day after seeing Bun I was gonna have to find some way to chill the fuck out.

The way my blood had been boiling at lunch that first day was enough to let me know that I was gonna have to get my feelings in check before I could do anything else.

There was a skate park not too far from the school, and that's where I met Brett, another Senior at West LA.

We were walking onto campus and towards our lockers that Friday when Brett asked me about a party happening that night.

"Uhh, I think so, Man. I--"

Just then, I caught sight of Sunny, happily walking arm-in-arm with Adam, just ahead of us. I stared for a minute, not noticing that I had just trailed off until Brett called me out.

"Dude?"

"Brett, man-- what's going on there? What's the- what's the deal?"

I looked at him for a moment then straight ahead again at Sunny and Adam, and I nodded in their direction. He followed my sight as we stopped at his locker and sighed as he watched Adam continue walking Sunny down the hall.

"Adam Sherwood-- Senior, quarterback/captain of the football team, and grade-A asshole. I'm surprised she's still with him."

"What do you mean?"

Brett sighed and rolled his eyes and I followed his eyesight, watching as it looked like Adam was dragging Sunny down the hall rather than walking with her.

I felt like a creep watching Sunny and Adam, surrounded by his friends at lunch from a back table with Brett, who had just turned back to look at me.

I kept watching over his shoulder, looking over at the bored, fake smile set on Bunni's face.

"She's basically like arm candy to him."

I knit my eyes together in confusion as I focused back on Brett.

"What do you mean?"

"When she first showed up last year, Sherwood let everybody know and I quote 'Jordan Prescott's daughter' was his."

I clenched my jaw as I looked over at their table once again, and as I watched Sunny squirming uncomfortably in her seat, I began mentally listing off different ways to break each of her boyfriend's little fingers.

I had just dropped off all my stuff to my locker and was ready to head out to my car when I bumped into Bunni in the hallway, not unlike the way I did a few days ago right before that kiss.

Damn... I'm still thinking about it.

I crouched down, helping her pick up the scattered books she had dropped when she finally looked at me.

The way those brown eyes sparkled would always leave me dumbfounded, and as we both rose to our feet, I couldn't help but want to tuck her hair behind her ear.

"Sorry."

She scooted past me so quickly, I barely registered, but a moment later I was in front of her again, my eyes pleading with hers.

"Bunni, look... I'm the one who's sorry. I shouldn't have-- I didn't mean to-- Look, I'm sorry, okay?"

I guess she could tell by my stammering that I was nervous, because a moment later, a smile began pulling at her distracting lips as she nodded.

"Okay."

We stood there staring at each other for a second before I took a step back, nervously running my hand through my curls.

"Well, I've got a free last period. Guess I should let you get back to yours."

"I, uh... I've got study hall this period, so... I guess I'm free too."

"Well... can we talk? I mean, let me really apologize for everything. I can even take you home."

This smile on her face instantly fell and a breath caught in her throat.

"Oh, well-- Adam-- he usually takes me home after practice. It's the team's bye-week so without a game, they're still gonna have practice, it'll just be shorter than normal."

"Well, now you won't have to wait around at all."

I grabbed her books and tucked them under my arm, before slinging the other over her shoulder.

"Come on, Bunni. Let's go."

After putting her address in my GPS, I followed the directions, leaving the car ride silent.

I could feel Bunni stealing glances every once in a while and I bit back a smile every time we'd accidentally lock eyes.

When we got to the large steel gate in the same area that I lived, I leaned out and punched in a four-digit code without waiting for Sunny's instruction.

"Wait-- how--"

As the gate opened, I looked back at Bunni, smirking knowingly.

"Please, like I could forget. Your dad's a creature of habit, Bun. 0612. The exact minute you were born."
