In all honesty, I couldn't wait for this year to finally be over. This might've been the most excited I've been for football camp in years.

I'd finally get away from the lovey-dovey-ness that is Trunny.

How stupid was that?!

There were three more weeks of school until sophomore year would be over and if I had to spend any unnecessary extra time around them, I was going to lose my shit.

I hate this whole thing, I hate that I'm not over her!

I was sitting in my final class of the day, waiting for the bell to ring so I could get to spring training, the only thing that had been keeping me sane since they got together when two girls behind me began gossiping about yet another promposal.

"I was there, I saw! Okay, she opened her locker and a bunch of confetti and balloons came out along with a cute little stuffed turtle."

At the mention of the turtle, my ears perked up, praying they weren't talking about Sunny, but knowing in the back of my mind, that's exactly who they were gossiping about.

"Then, he gave her a single rose and kissed her in front of everybody... right in the hall."

The girls both sighed, swooning over whatever Promposal happened that morning.

"Sunny's so lucky. Tristan's so hot! And a senior? Mmm, yes please."

"Girls, shh!"

Their giggling finally came to an end when Mr. Breeze, our American Lit teacher turned from his lecture. She eyed them behind me for a moment before turning back to the whiteboard, scribbling down more topics we should study for the final we would take in a few weeks.

Their whispering continued, just at a much lower volume, but I could still hear them, and right after glancing at the clock at closed my eyes and began taking deep breaths.

My mom and dad wanted to have our weekly family dinner out at one of the restaurants Sunny's parents owned.

I was practically leaning out of the window, trying my best not to look over at a smirking Tristan, who was texting on his phone.

With every stifled smirk and noise he made, I was closer and closer to taking my seatbelt off and jumping out of the window.

My dad said he wanted to make a little detour on the way home, and when we stopped on a quiet street not too far from the house.

We all got out and as we stood on the sidewalk, I followed my parent's line of sight, trying to figure out what they were so damn excited about.

Tristan's eyebrow cocked up, standing in front of all of us, the look of confusion on his face mirroring mine.

"What's going on, guys?"

My mom looked at my dad and nodded before they both took a step towards Tristan turning him around.

"Well, we can't pick up the keys until next week, but... we got you a place!"

"Wait, you guys what?!"

"Well, your Dad and I figured you wouldn't wanna be living at home next year and this place is close enough to your school and we're just a few minutes up the hill."

As my parents began telling Tristan about all of the amenities in his new place, my mind played out the next two years. With Tristan living here, Sunny would no doubt be here all the time.

They'd be here... together.

"Wow, guys. This is incredible, honestly..."

I grit my teeth, watching my brother accept his and Sunny's new fuckpad, when I suddenly couldn't take it anymore. I stormed back over to my dad's car, huffing as I slammed the door shut behind me.

Somehow, I missed Tristan's big announcement when I stormed off because when everybody else got back in the car my dad was fuming and screaming at Tristan.

The eight-minute drive from the new condo to our house felt like hours as Dad continued laying into Tristan, who shook his head as he stared out his window, his arms crossed over his chest.

"Skipping out on college because you wanna go and skate around like a bum?!"

"Dad, I--"

"No, Tristan! What? You're gonna travel around then summer and then maybe who knows how long after that, and then what... huh? You're blowing your entire future away for some stupid--"

"It's not stupid--"

"Enough!"

The car was suddenly quiet, but I could still feel my dad's voice bouncing off the glass. From the shadows, I could see his jaw clench flexing over and over again as I heard the low grumble of his teeth grinding.

We finally got home and once we did, everyone silently exited the car.

As I made my way up to my room, all I could think about was Sunny and how she was going to react to Tristan's news.
