I couldn't believe Nate.

I mean, I know him and Tristan have always been...weird.

It was because of their whole 'Mom' thing.

I didn't get it when I was younger, but I was starting to understand.

Back in the day, Uncle Karl stepped out on Tristan's mom with Nate's, and Tristan has never really been able to let go of the grudge he has towards Nate.

I just never expected Nate to snap on me the way he did.

It's not the first time but whenever it happens, it kinda throws me off.

I just didn't understand why Nate could see how happy Tristan made me.

I couldn't find Tristan at lunch.

When I asked his friend Brett if he'd seen him, he told me Tristan probably went to the little skatepark near the school so I figured I'd see him during last period.

I waited all during last period, calling Tristan or sending him a text every few minutes.

As the last bell ran that signaled school was out, I called Tristan once again and instantly felt a gut punch when his phone went straight to voicemail.

He was supposed to be my ride after school and now I felt like an idiot.

After fighting with myself over it for about a half-hour, I finally dragged my body towards the football field, watching the boy's practice.

I tried my best to ignore the glare from Adam, who seemed to pout and roll his eyes whenever Nate was on the field.

Practice was over about an hour later, and as I made my way over to where all the guys were, I gave Nate a shy wave and smile, stuffing my hand back in my pocket as he jogged over to me.

"Sunny, what are you doing here? I mean-- not that I don't mind having my own cheering section-- I just... I thought you and Tristan had plans.

The tears I had refused to let fall finally sprang free, falling down my face as I shook my head and smiled sadly.

"You were right, Nate."

His eyebrows tugged together in confusion as he looked down at me.

"Flower?"

"I think Tristan bailed on me."
