I've had my own room at Tristan's and Nate's house since the move, so after dinner, I went upstairs to change into some pajamas. I was walking down the hall towards the stairs when Tristan's voice called me into his room.

"Bun, come here for a second?"

I walked into his room like I had hundreds of times before and hopped on his bed, swinging my legs over the edge.

"What's up?"

He was in his closet, reaching up to grab something on the top shelf. When he turned around he had a purple notebook wrapped in a big silver bow in his hands.

"Well... I know it's just you going to the seventh grade, but I-- I got you something."

I happily took the notebook, pulling off the bow and opened it, tracing my fingers over the blank lines, just waiting to be filled with inspiration.

I looked up at Tristan, who stuffed his hands in his pockets nervously, his arctic blue eyes glued to his carpet.

"I mean, I know you're always writing in that green one-- since the moment your dad got you your guitar, it and that notebook have barely left your side. I kinda figured you were gonna need a new notebook soon. Do you-- do you like it?"

A huge smile was on my face as I launched myself into Tristan's arms, hearing him grunt then chuckle as he caught me.

"So, that's a yes?"

I pulled back and nodded.

"I love it, Tris. Thank you."

"You know... one of these days, you're gonna have to let me hear something."

I instinctively tucked my hair behind my ear and looked down, suddenly feeling nervous.

"Maybe..."

Tristan tilted my head up and I felt the air get sucked from my lungs when he looked down at me.

"You don't have to be shy around me, Bunni. It's just me."

I don't know how long I was staring at him-- honestly, I could look at him forever and never get sick of it, but there was something different about the way he was looking at me this time.

It started earlier when he kissed me on the cheek, and I didn't wanna say anything, but now, looking up into those beautiful, sparkling eyes was making my insides feel funny.

Tristan had opened his mouth to say something but we were both surprised by Nate, who was standing in the doorway, glaring at his older brother.

"Flower, hey. You ready for the movie?"

I nodded, and after thanking Tristan once again, went to leave his room. I passed Nate who stood there in the doorway for an extra second rolling his eyes before turning away from Tristan to follow me.
