Fiolina sighed when Addison told her about what Jordan had said to her in school. She didn't want to tell her at first, but seeing how the fact that she was upset was all over her face, Fiolina forced it out of her and Addison gave in.
"Come on, Addie," Fiolina said. "And to think you cried for that? Don't listen to all of that noise."
"It's not the insult I'm upset about," Addison frowned. "It's the fact that he threw that insult at me after we have looked out for him. I not only had to deal with his mood swings, I had to clean his messes too. He was terrible to Jake, I had to work overtime to comfort him with Galante. And then there was you too."
"Me?" Fiolina pointed to herself in surprise. "What did I do?"
Addison shook her head. "Nothing. I was referring to how I had to help patch things up between you two after your fight."
Fiolina pursed her lips as she went to the counter, then reached over to hug Addison. "I apologise on his behalf."
"Nah, it's okay," Addison sighed. "I'll see what he's doing at home later."
"Alright," Fiolina nodded as she pulled away. "And if he doesn't apologise, tell me. I'll come over to beat him up tomorrow."
Addison chuckled. "Oh, Fio. But Jeff was kinda comforting, though I was weeping at my sausage like an idiot."
"Oh, this Jeff," Fiolina sighed. "I so ship the two of you."
"Fio, please," Addison groaned. "He's just a friend. Besides, I'm always the one who's acting like the therapist in the group. Good to have another around me."
Fiolina smiled. "Yeah, you're a good person to talk to during bad times. You listen and answer rationally. You've got a clear head."
Addison blushed a little at the compliment and cracked open a bottle of apple juice to drink. It was almost time for the end of her shift, but Jake suddenly sent her a message to say that he wouldn't be able to pick her up and Jordan would be coming in his place instead. Addison groaned at that.
"Apparently, your guy's coming to pick me up after work today," Addison sighed as she sat down on the stool. "I think this is his big apologetic plan."
Fiolina burst into laughter, ripping open a packet of barbecue-flavoured potato chips. "Then, I'll be able to give him a piece of my mind for hurting our close friend."
Addison shook her head, her lips forming a line. "The last time you said that, you fell in love with him instead."
"What can I say?" Fiolina grinned. "It's like we're made for each other and you're our matchmaker."
"And now you're giving me the credit," Addison sighed, stepping out of the counter and made her way to the back room. "You should get changed, Fio."
Fiolina looked at the time in surprise and quickly finished her chips by dumping the entire thing into her mouth before getting up. Addison was soon out, stuffing the convenience store polo shirt into her bag. Fiolina went off to change into her uniform while Addison sat down to see what she can order online for dinner.
Jordan suddenly came in, holding a paper bag, just as she exited the back room.
"Pookie!" Fiolina greeted, grinning.
Addison snorted under her breath. "And I was right."
She looked as the two of them hugged each other, smiling slightly. A match that she was credited for. Can't say she wasn't proud of that.
Jordan gave Fiolina a kiss on the cheek and handed her a paper bag. "I got you a Hazelnut Latte and a chicken croissant."
"Aww," Fiolina smiled dreamily as she took the bag. "And it's still warm."
Jordan then turned to Addison, who promptly turned away. "Addie?"
Fiolina sat behind the counter, opening the paper bag. "Oh yeah, you gotta apologise to her, Pookie. What you said to her was not cool."
"Thanks for reminding," Addison scowled.
"Addie," Jordan called again, going over to her. "I got you a hot cocoa." He placed another paper bag in front of her.
"Thanks," Addison said, but didn't reach out to grab it.
Jordan sighed. "Addie, I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I shouldn't have said that."
"You bet you shouldn't have," Fiolina piped up. "After all she did for us, she even brought us together!"
"I know, I know," Jordan said, defeated. "I wasn't thinking."
"All I wanted was to peacefully sit in the library and listen to some music while writing a short story," Addison added. "It was hurtful, Jordan. You insulting me when I've only supported you and your friend."
Jordan fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "You're a really good friend, Addie. You check on me whenever you can, Jake too. You even tried to fix things between me and Fio."
Addison smiled slightly. "Fine, I am. So, you're not gonna speak to me like that again?"
"Never," Jordan shook his head. "Now, can we go home? Felicia made us another grand dinner."
"What?" That piece of information made Addison smile. "So, I don't have to order anything?"
"Aww, man," Fiolina sighed, leaning forward onto the counter. "Why am I not living with you guys?"
Jordan chuckled. "Oh, you should. You'll love the drama that happens every night."
Fiolina pouted. "Can I come over sometime?"
"It depends on Felicia's mood," Jordan shrugged. "I'm already in a lot of hot soup with her. My mom came over and kinda made things worse."
Addison snorted as she remembered Julie Anderson. "She's something."
Jordan decided to buy a carton of full cream milk and a bun for breakfast before leaving with Addison. Of course, that wasn't before giving Fiolina another hug and a kiss. Addison smiled at the two of them, then waved at Fiolina before leaving.
"By the way, what actually brought you here?" Addison asked as the two of them walked towards Jordan's blue car. "I don't think you're usually the kind to come all the way here to apologise."
Jordan laughed slightly, taking his car keys out. "You're right, I'm not. I prefer phone calls or not meeting in a public setting, but your friend thought otherwise."
"Friend?" Addison repeated in surprise, stopping beside the car. "Fiolina called you over?"
"Not Fio," Jordan shook his head as he unlocked the car and placed the milk and buns into his backpack in the backseat. "Your other friend. The guy in the leather jacket. Jeff, was it?"
Addison looked at him in shock. "Jeff called you over? How did he get your number? He asked Jake?"
Jordan snorted as he rounded the car and slipped behind the wheel, Addison got in beside him as well. "Call me? Nah, he came right over."
"He went all the way to Alford just to speak for me?" Addison said in surprise. "Oh, Jeff." She groaned. "That guy... why did he do that?"
"I dunno, maybe because you looked really upset?" Jordan shrugged. "He, on the other hand, threatened to throw me under a steamroller if I don't apologise to you. He bought a drink, though. A chocolate mocha frappe."
Addison sighed. "This guy. I should give him a call later."
Jordan smirked. "Maybe get him a drink before work tomorrow?"
"My bank account is crying from buying all those drinks just to check on you," Addison grimaced. "What's the best cheap drink?"
"Lots," Jordan happily said, then proceeded to list out the names of cheaper drinks.
