Addison spotted Jordan entering the library and immediately scurried off to the bathroom. It was a good thing that she was in the silent area of the library and the toilets there were at the back instead of being smack in the middle like the quite area. Jordan scanned around for a moment, then proceeded to make way to the quiet area since he wanted to eat.
When Addison returned, she was relieved to see Jordan nowhere in sight and sighed before seating herself at her carrel again, even pulling her hood on for good measure. Hopefully she wouldn't be recognised now.
There was still two hours left before her shift so she decided to chill a bit with earphones, even watching a Korean drama while at it.
And that's when Jordan seemingly teleported beside her. But since it was the silent area, he just waved at her before seating himself at the carrel beside her. Addison inwardly groaned, she didn't know why but something had changed in the way she saw Jordan after the incident. She was glad that it was the silent area so they couldn't talk.
And then she received a message from Jordan.
Wanna go to the quiet area?
Addison groaned inwardly again before replying.
Nope
I wanna sit with earphones
Jordan seemed to respect that as he replied with a thumbs up emoji. Addison turned to glance at him and found him hunched over his phone, then turned back to her tablet to work on her book with music playing in her ears.
Jeff looked at her in surprise as she came in an hour earlier than her shift.
"Okay, you're early today," Jeff remarked, leaning forward on the counter. "Anything happened?
Addison placed her bag on the table. "Just trying to get away from Jordan since he invaded me in the library."
Jeff groaned. "Come on. Does that guy ever give you privacy?"
"Apparently not," Addison shrugged as she made her way to the instant noodles section. "But don't worry, I got my privacy anyway since I was sitting in the silent area and you can't talk there so he was left without a choice but to just sit."
"Nice," Jeff nodded in approval. "But he did kinda apologise, treated you to hot cocoa and lunch, treated me to just lunch."
Addison sighed, picking up a package of roasted sesame chicken instant noodles. "Well, I just didn't feel like it today. I wanted my personal space since he would just ruin it by talking a lot if we were in the quiet area."
"Are you an introvert?" Jeff asked. "Because you don't seem like one."
Addison shrugged, going back to the counter to pay. "I have no clue. People say I'm an extrovert, but I feel more like an ambivert so yeah."
Jeff frowned as he picked up the scanner. "What about me?"
"You're definitely an extrovert," Addison snorted as she rummaged in her bag to take her wallet out. "You even got along with my lecturer, imagine that."
Just as she said that, the lecturer in question appeared with Jordan at his heels.
"Oh, look, a reunion!" Jeff piped up without missing a beat.
Addison smirked. "Yep." She turned to the two men that just came in. "Wanna get some quick provisions?"
Jordan sighed as he walked past Giuseppe to go to the snack section. "We just dropped in to say hi."
"Because you apparently left early," Giuseppe added. "Any reason?"
"Not really, no," Addison shook her head as she went to the hot water machine to prepare her instant noodles. "What's up?"
"Well, since it's a pretty cold day and we wanted something warm," Jordan piped up. "Besides, we didn't get to properly vent about the... Fleurette Incident that happened yesterday. You left the library too quickly, we didn't have time before class, and she was at home when we walked in."
Jeff burst into laughter. "Oh, do tell. I want to know from your perspective."
Giuseppe sighed. "You seem very entertained by this, buddy."
"Aren't you entertained to talk about it?" Jeff gave him a knowing look.
"Fine," Giuseppe smirked. "So we went to Alford. Addie rode with Jordan and I followed in my car. Our friend followed on her bike."
Jeff nodded. "Yeah, I saw it the other day. Sweet stuff."
Jordan smirked slightly as he also opted for some instant noodles. "Yeah, forgot you're a biker too."
"Must I write it on my forehead?" Jeff solemnly asked as he pointed to his forehead. "I am biker. How's that?"
"Sure, knock yourself out," Jordan chuckled. "Okay, so it was like this. We went to Pizza Land and got some breakfast there. Their breakfast menu is actually pretty good. Have you tried?"
Jeff looked surprised as he scanned the noodles and handled the purchase. "Pizza Land has a breakfast menu?" He finally said after handing Jordan the receipt. "Huh..."
"Okay, never mind that," Giuseppe appeared beside the redhead, also carrying a package of instant noodles. "So she ate a lot. Like, we just got one or two things but she..." he groaned. "And she ate very slowly too."
"Slower than Hoodie?" Jeff's question made Addison burst into laughter. "Because the other day, he was eating something here, and he took forever." He looked at the redhead. "Your girlfriend was here too that day and even she was done very quickly. Why so slow, man?"
Jordan shrugged. "You have to taste every bite.
"You can still do that by eating a few notches faster, Ginger," Giuseppe said, then turned to Jeff as he took his receipt. "So our friend, Addie, escaped early, leaving just the two of us with that lady. By the way, she is older than me, but somehow I feel like she thinks the opposite."
"How do you know she's older than you?" Jeff asked, surprised.
"She is a scientist, Jeff," Addison piped up. "And she has Doctor in her name."
Giuseppe nodded in agreement. "I just finished my master's last year and haven't even touched PHD yet."
Jeff nodded slowly. "I see, I see. But yes, she looks like... I dunno, thirty-five? How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-seven," Giuseppe sighed. "These guys thought I'm forty."
Jordan and Addison started laughing, with the latter giggling maniacally.
"Maybe it's because of the way you're dressed," Jeff commented. "Not that it's bad or anything, it's just that a lot of younger people dress like..." he shrugged, "well, like they're shopping in a bargain bin. You, sir, have a really good sense of style."
Giuseppe looked very proud of that as he went to the hot water machine. "Thank you, Jeff."
Jeff bowed comically. "My pleasure, Signor."
Addison looked at the time on her watch and looked at the redhead. "Jordan, doesn't your shift start in fifteen minutes?"
Jordan shrugged. "Not today. I pushed it to three."
"I'm not in a rush too since I don't have class till four," Giuseppe added. "So we can loiter here till then."
Jeff shrugged. "Sure. Seems like a party to me."
Addison smiled to herself as she started eating her noodles, which were nice and set and cooled enough so she can eat. Maybe it wasn't so bad hanging out with these guys after all.
