Jordan and Giuseppe walked into class at almost the same time, both looking doleful. Addison snorted and wondered if Jordan had actually followed Galante over to the staff room to clock in before showing up to class.
"How did it go?" Addison asked since she was the only one there besides them.
Giuseppe shook his head, looking horrified. "Terrible. She talks nonstop. I've never seen anyone who talk like this before."
Jordan groaned as he slumped down beside Addison. "She almost didn't let us off and she ate very slowly."
Addison looked at him in surprise. "Slower than you?"
"Slower than Ginger," Giuseppe nodded.
"Darn..." Addison smirked. "I thought you were the slowest eater in the world."
"Nope, the prize has been given to someone else," Jordan sighed. "Addie, do you mind if we wake up extra early tomorrow?"
Addison smirked, seeing what he's getting at. "Sure."
Giuseppe sighed. "I shall also wake up very early."
"By the way, did you guys see her leaving the campus?" Addison asked. "Because for all we know, she could be loitering about before finding us again."
Jordan groaned. "Where is that security guard that always asks for our ID? On other days, he'll torture us for it even when if we just go out for lunch and come back, and how did our friend get off scot free without even registering?"
"You know what?" Giuseppe pointed an agreeing finger at him. "You're right. We still have time before class starts, let's go see if her bike is still outside. If not, we can inform security about an intruder."
To Addison's surprise, Jordan seemed onboard with that and even readily got up. Addison shrugged and got up as well since she actually wanted to see what would unfold. Will they really call security on Fleurette if she's still loitering about the campus?
The three of them went to the parking lot and spotted Fleurette's bike still parked between Jordan and Giuseppe's cars.
"Come on, she is still loitering about here!" Giuseppe exasperatedly said, then broke into a string of angry Italian.
"Exactly," Jordan nodded in agreement even when he understood none of it.
Addison didn't regret tagging along because it really was an entertaining moment. The two guys were so busy being annoyed at the fact that Fleurette was still in campus that they didn't realise Fleurette was approaching.
Buy Addison did. "Guys, she's coming!" She announced.
Giuseppe gasped and dragged Jordan off to the back of his Fiat while Addison went to hide behind Jordan's car. They watched as Fleurette sauntered over and made a beeline for her bike, holding an iced drink from Sundeer. The three of them exchanged glances, then turned back to watch Fleurette ride off.
"Alright, let's get back to class," Giuseppe clapped Jordan's back as he stepped out from behind the car. "We still have ten minutes left."
Jordan nodded and turned to Addison, who was still busy laughing at what just happened. "Let's go."
Addison walked in to work just as Jeff was getting himself a hot drink.
"Hey, Jeff," Addison greeted cheerfully as she walked past him to go to the chilled shelf to get an egg and ham sandwich. "Anything interesting happen today?"
"Well, there was this girl who called me Butthead just because I refused to sell her cigarettes just because she wasn't old enough," Jeff shrugged. "She looked twelve, was apparently fourteen, and thought she could bypass me just because I, quote unquote, look stupid."
Addison turned to look at him in surprise. "Whoa... that is awful."
Jeff nodded. "Yep, kids nowadays are monsters." He groaned. "Gosh, I sound like a grandpa."
"Well," Addison snorted. "I don't blame you for thinking like that. My brother and sister complains about other people in their generation being weirdos."
"Is it a canon event that everyone who's normal actually ends up being the ones being bullied?" Jeff asked, sounding surprised yet not. "Because... I went through that in school as well."
Addison turned to look at him. "You wanna talk about it?"
Jeff smirked. "Alright, that's enough playing therapist."
"What, no, I actually wanna know!" Addison reasoned. "What happened back when you were in school?"
"It's kind of a long story," Jeff sighed as he went back to the counter, holding his hot milk tea. "There was this guy in my class that kept picking on me back in primary school. As if it wasn't enough that I was going through hell at home."
He fell silent after that and Addison chose to not pursue it any further. She got herself a cup of hot malted cocoa from the coffee maker and went back to the counter.
"You're a warrior, Jeff," Addison softly said as she placed her sandwich and cocoa on the counter. "You went through all of that to finally stand where you are today."
Jeff gave her a small smile as he started to scan the things she placed on the counter. "I guess you could say that, but it doesn't change the fact that whatever I went through was unfair."
Addison smiled sadly. "Well, I can't argue with that. But know this, the people who treated you like that were probably way more miserable than they seemed. I knew someone like that back in secondary school, bullied me every chance they got. It wasn't until years later did my friend tell me that they were actually jealous of my relationship with my family. I didn't even know any of that, but the whole class apparently did." She sighed. "It is what it is sometimes."
"I guess," Jeff shrugged. He lifted the two things that she got. "Also, you only eating this? Did Hoodie body-shame you again?"
"Nah," Addison grinned. "I just had a quiche and a pie from my school bakery. It's run by the hospitality students, so yeah. I'm still full from that."
Jeff nodded. "Good."
Addison went to the table, her grin not leaving her even the slightest. "But something funny happened today, that's why I'm in such a good mood."
That seemed to put Jeff in a good mood too. "What happened?"
"So our new housemate actually followed us to Alford for breakfast!" Addison squealed with laughter.
"Oh, so she's a funny person?"
"Nah. It was a disaster. Even Galante was feeling awkward with her sitting there. I managed to leave early."
"And then?"
"Jordan and Galante suffered and they were horrified when they came to class afterwards."
Jeff straightened himself slightly, looking a little serious. "What happened?"
"She was an extremely slow eater and spoke nonstop as they had their miserable breakfast. They were not happy."
"Oh," Jeff relaxed. "Well, seeing how she was the other day, I thought she would be a very mean person."
Addison gave him a knowing look. "Come on, maybe she just forgot to greet you. Or she was in a hurry."
Jeff shrugged. "Well."
"Something else happened after," Addison went back to the story, then proceeded to tell him about how they actually went to check the parking lot for her bike to see if she was loitering around Alford, only to find out that she went to Sundeer as well before leaving.
"So yes, it was a funny day," Addison chuckled.
"Hopefully the rest of my day would turn out like that as well," Jeff sighed.
Addison smiled at him. "Don't worry, it will."
