As soon as the Superhero felt like he had enough energy, he nodded at Addison, who nodded back and poked at a gas canister with a pair of scissors. She shrieked slightly when a gust of gas rushed out of the canister. The Superhero watched her in surprise, but found a large jerrycan labelled ethanol and helped pour it around the room, on the door which Fleurette came in, then moved on to do the same with another can of isopropanol.
"Darn, is that alcohol?" Addison asked, grimacing at the strong smells that surrounded the room. "Oh, darn, we gotta get out of here..."
The Superhero held up a finger to gesture her to wait, then opened a few large bottles of acetone before emptying those around as well. Addison went on to empty another gas canisters.
"My eyes are burning, I think we better get out of here," Addison said.
The Superhero grabbed a Bunsen burner, then grabbed her before pulling her over to a corner. The air was slightly fresher there since the Superhero intentionally missed the area when pouring around the various types of alcohol. Addison started the flame on the Bunsen burner just as the Superhero's hands started glowing on her shoulders.
They only witnessed a second of the tremendous explosion as Addison threw the Bunsen burner into the middle of the room. The next thing they knew, there were in front of the Kennedy home.
"Gosh, that was... that was something," Addison chuckled, pulling on the straps of her backpack as if she was still in doubt that it was fully intact. "And thank you for bringing me home."
The Superhero nodded and gripped onto their knees, panting like he had just finished a marathon.
"Oh, darn, your energy level must be low again," Addison groaned, taking her bag off to rummage in it one more time. "Will water help? That was the last of my food."
The Superhero shook his head and managed to stand, legs trembling as he raised his hands. A glow appeared, though faint, but it wasn't enough. The Superhero collapsed to the ground.
"Superhero, I think you should rest in my place for now," Addison said, getting down beside the Superhero. "Come with me, you can sit in the living room or something. I'm sure my landlady wouldn't mind."
The Superhero shook his head hands pressed against the ground as he weakly tried to stand up. Addison ignored that and pulled his arm around her shoulders and dragged him towards the porch steps of the Kennedy home.
"That place must be really far away, your energy is fully gone," Addison said as she supported the Superhero against the wall and took her backpack off to rummage in it for her keys. "Stay with us for a few minutes, at least have something to eat before you go home."
To her surprise, the Superhero was lying in a heap beside her, completely limp and probably unconscious. Addison panicked a little and got down beside him.
"Superhero, can you hear me?" Addison shook the poor Superhero, who remained fully unresponsive.
She quickly checked his pulse and breathing, and was relieved to find that they both seemed normal. Addison went back to her bag and rummaged in it for her keys again. She could hear it, but not find it.
Addison was then startled by the door bursting open beside her, even more surprised when Felicia bundled out with Jake and Jordan at her heels.
"Addie, you're finally back!" Felicia quickly gathered her in her arms. "What happened to you?"
Addison couldn't help but laugh at everything that had gone down so far. "I'm fine, at least, I am now."
Felicia pulled away and cupped her face in her hands. "What happened?"
Addison sighed. "Felicia, I know that you don't usually allow guests, but I hope you can reconsider that now." She pointed a hand towards the unconscious Superhero lying beside the steps. That one action made everyone gasp.
"The Superhero!" Jordan exclaimed, nearly falling onto Jake and pulling him down along with him. It was a good thing that Jake managed to steady him.
"He's fully wiped after her brought me home," Addison said as she got up. "It must've been a very far distance and my dinner wasn't enough to fuel him up."
"Dinner... you hadn't eaten anything?" Giuseppe appeared between the younger men in surprise.
Addison shook her head. "I have no idea how long I had been out."
"Get inside," Felicia pulled Addison into the house while the three men helped carry the senseless Superhero in.
Felicia sat Addison down while the rest gently laid the Superhero onto the couch. He was still masked, although parts of his neck could be seen.
"Jake, come with me," Felicia said, pulling her son towards the kitchen.
Jordan and Giuseppe decided to properly adjust the Superhero on the couch, but failed to properly do so since he was too heavy and the couch seemed a little too small for him. In the end, the three of them were left stare as Superhero's arm and leg hung odd the couch, nearly touching the ground.
"I think we should take his shoes off," Giuseppe said as he went over to the Superhero's feet.
"Eww, what if they smell?" Jordan piped up.
Addison rolled her eyes and went to help Giuseppe with that. Jordan sighed and helped them prop the Superhero up on some cushions.
"Okay, this is better," Jordan said, then sat down.
Giuseppe placed the Superhero's sneakers by the door before going over to the kitchen to check on the Superhero. "How long has he been out?"
"Only since we came in," Addison said. "He wanted to leave, but he was too weak and ended up collapsing just outside."
Felicia and Jake returned and sat Addison down with a cup of warm milk and a plate that contained a huge slice of chicken pie, chocolate cake, and a ham and cheese sandwich.
"There's more for the Superhero too, but let him rest first," Jake said, placing the healing plate on the coffee table. "You should eat fist, it's been hours since lunch."
Addison smiled. "Thank you."
"Tell us what happened," Felicia said as she sat down.
Addison thanked the Kennedys for the meal and ate a few bites before beginning. "I was on my way home and I was ambushed by this mad biker. The Superhero then showed up and tried to catch the biker, but then we were both ambushed and taken to a barn that looked like a science lab inside, and then guess what?!"
"What happened?" Giuseppe piped up.
"It was Fleurette!" Addison exclaimed. "She was the one who decided to take the Superhero, and me, obviously."
"But why?" Jake asked.
Addison shrugged. "To experiment on him. After all, she's a scientist of sorts."
Jordan gasped. "So she wanted to cut him open and things?!"
"Yes!" Addison pointed at him in agreement and nodded. "That was my thoughts exactly too! She was giving us her big villain speech and I finished it for her. Superhero was trying really hard to not laugh."
"And how could you tell?" Jake asked. "You know, he wears a mask and all."
Addison shrugged. "The Superhero is the most expressive person I know, despite how he's always masked and I've never seen his face once."
"And how did the two of you get out?" Felicia asked. "Like, this Fleurette, she knows where we live and whatnot."
Addison couldn't help but smirk. "Oh, don't worry. She won't bother us anymore."
"What did you guys do?" Jordan was interested now.
"We burnt the place down," Addison smiled sheepishly. "We found gas and alcohol and filled the room with them, then threw a lit Bunsen burner into the room before escaping."
There was complete silence at that and Addison realised the impact of what they had done.
"Oh, my god, we killed Fleurette and probably a bunch of other people," Addison remarked, her eyes wide in shock. "Oh, darn..."
The Superhero suddenly slid off the sofa and Giuseppe gasped as he quickly got to his side and caught him.
But something still fell. It wasn't the Superhero, but it was his mask.
