Addison was sitting in the library since one of her classes had been cancelled when Jordan appeared once again. For a moment, she actually considered leaving the scene to go to the shop early to hang with Jeff instead, but the redhead seemed firm on his decision of making her stay. Begrudgingly, she took her earphones off and put them away.
"No class as well?" Jordan asked.
Addison shook her head. "Class has been cancelled for me."
Jordan shrugged. "Nice."
Addison wondered if it was really that nice since she was now stuck with him instead of having the time for herself.
"You wanna get an early lunch after this?" Jordan piped up. "You know, maybe we can go to Pizza Land or McRonalds, or have a sandwich at Sundeer?"
Addison considered that for a moment, then smirked. "I think I have a better idea. You okay with driving?"
Jordan looked at her with a slight frown of confusion. "Where do you want to go?"
"When I was on the way back with Jake last night, we saw this new restaurant on Spleen Street," Addison said. "It's a vegetarian shop." She smirked at him. "After all, I have been told to eat healthier. And someone told me I needed a diet plan." She gave him a knowing look.
"Come on, I'm sorry I said that," Jordan sighed. "But sure. Vegetarian food does sound good. I went to a Buddhist temple during Vesak with my family once and they served this really good noodles. There wasn't a single piece of meat or egg in it, but it was really good."
Addison grinned. "Yeah, my relatives are Indian and they are sometimes vegetarian for prayers or festivals and the food was really good. They usually substitute the meat with like tofu, paneer, or mushrooms. One time, they even made homemade burger patties with cauliflower and breadcrumbs. I hope they have stuff like that because it was really good."
Jordan nodded. "Yeah. What time do you wanna go?"
Addison looked at the time on her watch. "Maybe in an hour or so. It's still quite early."
"Alright," Jordan said. "And I'm sorry again for saying that."
"It's alright," Addison chuckled. "But now that you've reminded me of it, maybe I should pack some food for Jeff. It was nice of him to strand up for me like that."
Jordan frowned thoughtfully before speaking. "You know what? I will pay for it. You already treated him to some Benny Dodgers' the other day. It's time I give him a peace offering so that he doesn't come at me again."
Addison couldn't help but laugh at that.
The food turned out to be good and Jeff was surprised to see the two of them arrived, with Jordan even holding a paper bag. The redhead then placed the said paper bag on the counter, startling Jeff.
"Whoa, what's this?" Jeff asked, looking at the bag in surprise. "Look, I know I confronted you earlier, but you don't have to give me your lunch. I'm not a bully."
Jordan shook his head, a slight smirk on his face. "This isn't my lunch, bro. It's yours."
Jeff was taken aback slightly, his head literally moving back a few inches for enunciation. "Say what now?"
"I got this for you," Jordan said. "It's from that new vegetarian place in Spleen Street. Addie and I went there for lunch."
"And did you pay for her too?" Jeff said, splitting the top of the bag open to take a peek in. "Well! This smells good!"
Addison chuckled. "Yes, he actually paid for me even when I insisted that I could pay by myself." She turned to Jordan and gave him an exaggerated nod. "Thanks, brother. I forgive you."
"Aww," Jeff wiped off false tears with his index fingers, a pout on his face. "How heart-touching."
Jordan sighed and turned away. "Why do you always make things more difficult than it actually is?"
Jeff snorted and raised his hands. "Alright, alright, thanks for the lunch. It smells really good. What is it called?" The two of them shrugged, much to his surprise. "Wait, you don't even know the name?"
"It's in Chinese," Addison frowned slightly.
Jordan fumbled his pockets for something. "Wait, I have the receipt." He found the rather long strip and frowned at it. "So it's called Lo Hon Chai. Yeah. That's the name. Also, it's vegetarian."
"Yes, I got that since you guys mentioned a vegetarian restaurant earlier," Jeff nodded, smirking slightly. "Thank you, by the way."
"You have class after this?" Addison asked, fighting a grin.
Jeff shook his head. "Nope. Not this time. Our lecturer let us off with a task instead, which I'm done with, so I can just go home and..." he sighed dreamily, "sleep."
Addison lost over the grin and ended up laughing. "It seems like that's your hobby nowadays, Clarkson."
Jeff smirked and shrugged one shoulder. "Yeah, I guess. And I really like this hobby."
"Maybe you can hang out in the shop a bit," Jordan suggested. "Because I have to leave in a while for work."
"Doesn't your work start only at two-thirty?" Addison asked. "It's only one-thirty."
Jordan shrugged with his arms. "Well. I meant after Tough Guy's shift."
"Tough Guy!" Jeff laughed at the new nickname. "Nice!"
To their amusement, he flexed his arms and grunted like how a bodybuilder would. The truth was, he did have a good amount of muscle, being bigger than Jordan. It wasn't a surprise that the redhead felt threatened when he confronted him at work the other day.
"That's enough, Hulk," Addison chuckled and went over to the fridge, blushing slightly. "Alright, I'm getting a drink. Any suggestions?"
"Milk," Jordan said without missing a beat.
"Yoghurt milk," Jeff added, straightening himself.
Addison shrugged and picked up a chilled bottle of yoghurt milk before returning to the counter. "I better not see you buying SlurpSlurp later."
Jeff smirked as he scanned the bottle. "Can't guarantee that."
"You're a piece of work," Addison sighed as she pressed her card to the reader before going back to her usual spot at the table, seating herself in front of Jordan. "Even after I told you about my aunt?"
"Well, I can't vouch for her," Jeff simply said. "I have an active lifestyle. I go for a walk, I lift weights on the weekends, and that's about the only unhealthy thing I consume."
"What about the other junk you eat, hmmmmm?" Addison widened her judgemental eyes for emphasis. "Like those sausages, those... chocolates. Those are very healthy, amirite?"
Jeff sighed. "They are occasional treats. Also, I use up all of my energy, especially all the sugars that I consume."
Addison shrugged, unable to argue since his justifications did seem reasonable. She turned her attention to Jordan instead, who had wandered over to the snack section to grab some potato chips. "Yo, I want some as well," she ended up saying as she went over.
Jeff couldn't help but laugh at how quickly her attention went away to something else. He waited for them to return and handled their payments, even let Jordan get the staff discount with his card. The redhead was very pleased at that.
