Addison decided to hang out in the student lounge before leaving for work and noticed that some sort of event was happening. It was empty, though, and Addison realised that there were some students seated around at the tables at the side. The room was usually filled with such tables, but most of it were now replaced by straight rows of empty chairs.
Naturally, she assumed that the event had ended.
Suddenly, she spotted a smartly-dressed student downing something from a paper cup, then realised that there was a whole buffet set up beside him on the high table that students usually lounged at. Addison smiled to herself and made her way over to the beeline and scanned the items to see what was even served. There were small sugar buns, dainty pieces of chocolate, and even empanadas.
Addison gleefully grabbed herself a plate and started filling it with one thing after another. When she was done, she had two empanadas, two chocolates, and two sugared buns on the little plastic plate.
"Excuse me," Addison nearly jumped out of her skin. She quickly turned around to see the student council President, Olujimi, standing there. "Are you here for the event?"
"Uh... there's an event?" Addison asked in surprise. "I'm sorry, I didn't know."
Olujimi chuckled. "No, no. It's okay. The food is actually reserved for the event."
"Sorry, sorry."
"No, it's okay," Olujimi smiled. "You want to register for the event?"
Addison thought about it and nodded. "Yes, how do I register?"
"You have to scan the QR code over there," Olujimi pointed to a table at the front of the venue, right beside the entrance. How could she have missed it?
"I'm so sorry," Addison said again, to which he simply replied with: "No, it's okay."
She quickly went over to the table, ushered by one of the other student council members who also happened to be Addison's classmate in Corporate Communications. It was actually embarrassing, but Addison was now looking for a way to escape.
The girl at the counter showed her a QR code, which Addison immediately scanned with the phone she had to juggle with her plate. It was funny how she even managed to get two plates, the other one to cover it.
"Scan this QR first, then I will take your attendance," the girl said.
Addison thought quickly in the middle of filling in the online form that was brought to her by the QR code. If she filled this now, she had to attend this whatever event. And if that's the case, would she be able to get out easily?
"I think I need to go to the toilet first," Addison said, pointing at her phone with a sheepish grin. "I'll fill this up on the way."
With that, she stepped out the door beside her and bolted towards the foyer. She took a foldable tote bag out of her backpack and quickly stuffed the plate into it, folded it, and carefully placed it on the table before actually going to the toilet.
Then, she returned, retrieved the plates and held it carefully to not destroy the contents, and made a beeline for the school gates. She noticed that her bus was approaching and sped over to the bus stop just in time to get on.
Addison could not believe what she had just done.
Jeff was startled when Addison entered, holding something in her hand.
"Okay, something happened," he said, placing his folded arms on the counter. "What is it this time? Chased a train?"
"No, but you will not believe what just happened," Addison exclaimed. "I could hardly believe it myself!"
Jeff smirked. "What happened?"
Addison told him about whatever that happened at the student lounge, laughing at some parts, and Jeff was even surprised when she told him how the student counsel president had just appeared before here.
"And he kept saying it's okay too," Addison groaned. "Then that girl who led me to the registration table was in my class too. I hope she doesn't ask me about it."
"It's like you're in a sitcom," Jeff chuckled. "Always some stuff happening to you at Alford."
Addison sighed. "Well, it sure seems like it. The amount of things that happen."
Jeff sighed as well. "If only my life was as eventful. I've never even met the Superhero yet."
"Aww, come on," Addison went towards the counter. "I wish I had that kinda life. This is far too eventful."
"You sure about that?" Jeff gave her a knowing look.
Addison frowned slightly. "Well, maybe."
Jeff shrugged. "Hmm. At least you tell me of all the events that happen in Alford."
"Yeah," Addison smiled as she slowly took the plates out of the folded bag. "Also, you want to share the loot with me?"
"Wait, you actually managed to get them out?" Jeff was even more surprised now. "Oh, Addie."
Addison smirked. "Do you want some of it or not?"
Jeff grinned. "Sure. Let's eat."
When it was time to leave, Jake picked Addison up just in time.
"Mom's not letting me falter on this," Jake said as they got into the car. "Anyway, Fleurette came home at midnight yesterday."
"Why, really?" Addison said in surprise. "So late?"
Jake shrugged. "Yeah. Mom was very disappointed since she even forgot to lock up. Mom had to go to the toilet at that time and heard the scuffle, so she went to look, and saw her come in. She didn't even lock the front door before going up to her room.
"Yikes," Addison sighed.
"Yep," Jake nodded. "So she set some rules this morning when she was leaving for... I'm guessing for work."
Addison frowned at him. "You don't sound very convinced at that."
"Mom said she left at noon, Addie. What sort of work starts at that time?"
That was a very good point. Addison decided to change the subject and told him about the funny thing that happened in school. For some reason, she felt very proud of it despite how it was actually quite embarrassing at that time.
"And you actually stole food," Jake said with a smirk. "What did they have?"
"Chocolates, empanadas, and sugar buns," Addison said. "They had coffee and tea too, but it was past noon and I have low caffeine tolerance so I didn't touch that."
Jake shook his head in surprise. "There's always something going on in your college. Always."
Addison grinned. "Jeff said it's like I'm in a sitcom. Sure feels like it too."
"It does," Jake sighed. "Our house feels like that too. Like, you know. One of those really long mangas that are actually written in the style of a sitcom without proper story structure."
"It does feel like that," Addison couldn't help but agree.
When they arrived home, they spotted Giuseppe's car in the driveway with him beside it.
"What's he up to?" Jake wondered aloud. "He doesn't usually park here."
"Yeah, I'm wondering that too," Addison added. "Should we check it out?"
Also, I realised that Addison's Sim turned out way fairer than I had intended. I always intended her to be more tanned, or even olive-skinned, since she was always mixed in my mind. Notice how she had mentioned that her relatives were Indian. Yeah, I've always intended for Addison to be a mix of Asian, African, and Caucasian descent. Somehow, I kinda failed to recreate that in the Sims lol. I think we can just keep that in mind when imagining what Addison looks like lol.
