Jack waltzed back to the house with a huge grin on his face. The sea air had helped him immeasurably.
He walked up and knocked on the door, anxiously wanting to see Angelica.
She opened the door and Jack saw tear stains on her face, she looked as horrible as he had.
Her red dress was sagging on her, showing she hadn't eaten in at least a week, and her posture told about her sleep.
"Angelica?" Jack's face fell and he guided her to a chair. "what happened?" He immediately asked.
"You- I thought you were dead." She choked out. "What happened on the ocean?"
Jack gave her a look, as it was an odd question, but answered all the same. "Didn't get into any trouble like ye told me. Sailed peacefully around, spent some nights on deck." He went on and on but Angelica stopped him.
"So, you didn't get held captive or anything?" She asked.
"No-"
"You bastard!" She yelled.
"I thought you missed me!?" Jack stood up in confusion.
"I did, because I thought you were dead! Do you have any idea how long you were gone!?" Angelica shot back with hot tears streaming down her face.
"A month, a well deserved month!" Jack exclaimed in bewilderment at her anger outburst.
"3 and a half months." She slumped into the chair and buried her face into her hands.
"Angelica, I must have lost track of time." Jack tried to comfort her.
"Easy to lose track of time when you're away from me, huh?" Angelica glared at him.
"No, I missed the sea so much that when I got their all my worries disappeared." Jack smiled in remembrance.
"Oh, so now remembering to come home to your wife and son is a worry?" She raised her voice again.
"No- I-"
Angelica didn't give him time to fumble his lies again and stormed upstairs.
----------------------------------------------"Angelica?" Jack cooed as he creaked open the bedroom door.
Angelica didn't reply, she just lie on the bed.
"You can't be mad at me for this." Jack said as he came over to her.
"I most certainly can! You broke your promise, I was going to miss you after 1 month but 3 and a half, Jack!" She sat up.
"I guess now wouldn't be the best time to mention that I was going to ask you if we could... Compromise?" He asked awkwardly.
"Compromise?" Angelica raised a brow in disbelief.
"Live here half the time and out on sea the other." Jack explained.
"You come back from sea 2 and a half months late and you want me to compromise!?" She growled.
Jack shrugged and nodded.
"How about this for compromise: you live out on the sea, I live here!" She shot. "I'm doubting why you ever came back." She cried.
"Because I love you." He reached for her.
"Do you? Or do you love the sea more?" She squirmed away from him.
Jack tried to answer, but the truth wouldn't satisfy her.
"I thought so." Angelica sighed and she rolled over.
