Jack sat in the kitchen, head in hands.
He was deep in thought when he heard footsteps coming up behind him.
It sounded as if the source was limping, or undead.
He turned around to see Angelica attempting to reach him.
"Why are you not in bed?!?" He scolded and ran over to her.
He lifted her up to carry her and almost took her back to the cabin, but her protests stopped him. "You cannot keep me in there like a prisoner."
"You're not strong enough to walk!"
"I did, didn't it?" She spat.
"Barely." He rolled his eyes.
"Stop!" She yelled with tears in her eyes. "Put me down."
Jack obeyed and she nearly fell, but grabbed onto a chair.
"Now, you come to me when you're ready to talk about this." She cried and tried her best to walk on her own back to the cabin.
Jack looked at her with pain in his eyes. After a few minutes, when he knew she had reached the cabin, he grabbed a few bottles of water and followed her. He didn't find her immediately, but saw a light under the bathroom door.
"Angelica?" He knocked on the door.
"What?" She replied between sobs.
"Come out of there." He cooed and went in the bathroom to find her in the bath, covering herself as he entered, and sobbing her eyes out. Jack grabbed a towel and picked her up. He wrapped the towel around her and carried her to the bed. He sat on the edge with her still in his arms, and when she attempted to move off of him, he didn't allow her.
"Can we talk?" He asked.
She nodded and sniffed.
"Now what did you want to explain to me?" He asked.
"When I was engaged to him, it wasn't under my free will. It was arranged by my family that I would marry him for his wealth." She said and looked up at Jack.
"I was your chance to escape." He said in realization.
She nodded and looked at the floor.
"I... I am so sorry." He hugged her tight and kissed her cheek.
Angelica leaned into him, but didn't say anything.
"Angelica?" Jack noticed that she was silent.
"You believed that man that I was a scoundrel. A wench." She spoke with pain coating her words, half from her arm, half from her heart.
"Angelica, I-"
"But you did," She squeezed a few more tears out and pulled her towel tighter around her. "You trusted that liar over your own wife." She continued.
"No, Angelica." Jack didn't have an argument, but he wouldn't lose his wife, not after all they'd been through.
"How is this healthy? We don't even trust each other." She cried more.
"Of course I trust you." He pressed her head against his chest. "I can't blame you for falling in love with me, I am quite charming." He smirked, trying to lighten the mood.
Angelica looked up at him and gave a sad smile.
"I love you, still." She said.
"I still love you too." He laughed. "I don't care what's happened in your past, you're mine now, and that will never change."
