The group eventually passed the puzzle and walked down a long corridor.
"Sweetie, don't you think you've gone a little power crazy?" Jack tried to get Angelica's soft side back.
"Actually I don't. Would you have let her go? Let her tell the authorities? Let us all be hanged?" She kept her eyes strait ahead.
"I suppose not." Jack answered quietly.
Alonzo fell back to Angelica's pace and looked at her fearfully. "Thank you."
"For what?" Angelica almost growled.
"Keeping your deal. Not many pirates do that." He answered and put his head down.
"Quit quivering. Nothing to be afraid of. Now I don't think we've properly met, Angelica." She offered her hand.
"Alonzo, prince of Spain."
Angelica smiled at the mention of her home country.
"I have made you happy?" He asked, curious of her joy.
"It is just nice to have someone from my country around. Y uno que habla español." She said.
Alonzo laughed and Jack looked at both of them, confused. "You better not be talking about me."
Angelica gave him the soft smile he wished to see and kissed him on the cheek.
She looked to the front of the group, where Jackie was obviously grateful for his time with the girl. He was desperately pleading for forgiveness. At last, the girl looked as if she didn't hate him with all of her being. And Angelica surprised herself by smiling at this.
"There is it!" Seraphina pointed to a large chest.
Angelica walked over to it and wiped off the dust.
"It's an inscription, To open this chest and retrieve the treasure, offer blood of royalty, of plentiful measure." She read.
Seraphina walked up to the chest and offered her hand.
Angelica hesitantly pulled her knife.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
"Wait!" Alonzo yelled and ran over to them. "Take my blood instead."
"What?!" Seraphina gasped. "Why?"
"He needs you, Seraphina. No one needs me." He took her hands and nodded towards Jackie.
"Thank you." She smiled and walked over to Jackie, putting her hand on his shoulder.
Angelica took his hand and cut it deep.
The boy writhed in pain, but Angelica kept his hand steady, dripping streams of hot blood down onto the chest.
After several minutes the chest popped open, but no average treasure lie in the chest. 3 jewels sat in the chest. A ruby, an emerald, and a sapphire.
"What?!?" Alonzo screamed. "I nearly get my hand cut off and we only get 3 cheap jewels?!" He ranted. "Good luck, I'm done." He stormed off out of the cave.
Angelica picked up the jewels from the chest and studied them.
As she did the whole cave began to crumble.
"Run!" She screamed.
They all sprinted until they came to a wall with 3 keystones.
"We have to fit these in here in the right order." She said as she handed the jewels off to think.
"Red symbolizes anger, or leadership, or it could represent the blood." She thought out loud. "Blue represents knowledge, also power." She began to pace. "Green is ambition, greed or jealousy most likely." She stopped in front of the wall.
"It would be nice of you to hurry!" Jack yelled as he looked at the small rocks falling from the ceiling.
Angelica took the gems. "Let's try this." She paused and inserted the blue one first. "Knowledge, or power, can determine a leader." She inserted the red one next. "Which can lead to, or crumble by the presence of, greed or jealousy, or someone else's ambition."
She stood back and watched the door slowly swivel around, opening the back entrance to a cave.
Angelica removed the jewels from the sockets and ran back to the ship with the group.
"That was amazing!" Jack took her shoulders.
"Please, Jack. I just saved all of your lives, again might I mention." She smiled and hugged him.
"You're a genius." He flicked her head.
"Thanks, Jack." She laughed and rubbed her head.
"And they patched things up nicely." Jack stepped aside to give Angelica a view of Jackie and Seraphina standing by the rail, kissing.
Jack pulled her back before she could march over to them and do something.
"I think they have the right idea." He smirked and dropped Angelica into a dip, and then he kissed her.
