Jack did not sleep that night. He stayed awake, rubbing Angelica's arm every time she would shiver.
He didn't understand how she could still be so weak with the shots she'd been getting.
Finally the sun rose in the sky and Angelica woke up.
"Morning." She croaked.
"Your voice hasn't gotten better. I'd offer you water, but the doctor told me not to." He said as he watched her face fall.
"You'll be alright." He said as he rubbed her side.
The doctor lazily walked in and yawned, pulling out the shot again.
"What is in that?" Jack's asked.
"Don't know, don't care. Captain gives me these." He said and, without warning, stuck the shot in her wound and injected the fluid.
Angelica's face went white and so did her arm. She gripped the sheets hard enough to tear them and fell back down immediately after he was done.
The doctor left, rudely, and slammed the door behind him.
"I'm going on deck. Don't try to get up, I'll be back." He said and kissed her before he left.
