Angelica opened her eyes to a bright light and far-off voices.
She couldn't understand what they were saying, and when she tried to get up, she could not.
Angelica started to panic as the room came into shape, a white room with multiple beds with people lieing in them.
She looked down to notice that she had straps on her legs and arms holding her to the bed.
She struggled against the straps, attracting the attention of a man in an apron.
"Ah, so you've awoken." He smiled.
Angelica glared at him.
"Do not be afraid, we're here to help." He assured her.
"Then why am I strapped in?" She said in a raspy voice, it hurt to talk.
"Save your voice, darling. You're strapped in because, even asleep, you're not the best patient." He laughed.
He looked at a paper and pulled a needle out of one of the apron's stained pockets.
Angelica's eyes went wide and she pulled away, battling the straps for freedom.
The man put a hand on her chest to hold her down, but that did not stop her from trying. He plunged the shot into her arm and injected the fluid into her.
Angelica groaned in pain and squirmed against the straps and the bed. Her eyes felt like they were going to release tears, but none came.
"You're very dehydrated," The nurse explained.
Angelica growled at him, making him sigh in defeat and walk away to the other patients.
What could he have injected in me? This place isn't in the best condition. She thought as several cockroaches scurried out of a corner.
Looking around at the other beds, she realized that most of them were in very poor health, dying even.
She laid her head back against the hard pillow. "Jack." She tried to yell but it came out a raspy whisper.
