Everyone looked all around them as the group walked through the jungle.
"Look a bird!" Jackie pointed out to Seraphina.
Seraphina smiled and watched the beautiful bird as it glided through the air.
Jack was in front, and he abruptly stopped.
"What is it?" Angelica peeked over his shoulder.
"I think we're going to have to get our feet wet." He moved aside so everyone could see a thick swamp.
"More than our feet." Angelica pushed herself in front.
"Eager, are you?" Jack asked.
"Who wouldn't be?" She said sarcastically.
Seraphina paused at the bank.
Jackie came over to her. "Come on, get on my back." He bent down.
"Oh no I can-" Seraphina tried to politely decline but Jackie turned around and picked her up in his arms like a baby.
"Better?" He smirked.
"Yes." She blushed and smiled.
They all trudged through the murkey water.
"Oh look a snake." Angelica pointed out.
"Those things are poisonous!" Jack yelled.
Angelica snatched the snake up by the head and turned around. "Scared of snakes are we?" She played with Jack.
"I didn't say that." Jack said quietly.
"No need to be ashamed. We only need one fearless person on this expedition." She set the snake down on a limb above the swamp.
"You think you are fearless?" Jack scoffed.
"I know I am." She grinned.
"Oh really." Jack smirked. "Oh what's that? Did I feel rain?" He grinned evilly.
"What?" Angelica gasped.
"Yep, it's raining." Jackie confirmed.
Angelica backed up into Jack and hugged him frightened.
"It's ok, love." Jack chuckled. "Let's get out of the swamp and we will make shelter, fearless of the group." He mocked.
"Ok, ok I'm sorry. I got a little carried away." She admitted.
"We all do, angel." He comforted.
The pirates, and Seraphina made camp under a few palm trees that shielded them from the rain for the most part.
"See? Safe and-" Jack tried to comfort her but as he was speaking, a large raindrop fell right on Angelica's head. "Wet." Jack finished.
Angelica snuggled into Jack.
On the other side of the campfire, Jackie and Seraphina were talking and laughing.
"Thank you for helping me with the swamp." She awkwardly thanked him.
"No problem. I know princesses probably don't like to get their feet wet." He laughed.
She sighed.
"What's wrong?" Jackie scooted closer to her.
"Nothing, I'm sorry." She dismissed.
"Seraphina." He said sternly.
She looked up at him with sad eyes. "If I am a princess, then someday I will have to become a queen. I'm not ready for that." She started crying.
"You won't have to if you don't want to, right?" Jackie asked.
She sadly shook her head.
"Well.. What if you just didn't go back?" Jackie put an arm around her shoulders.
"What are you saying?" Seraphina looked at his smiling face.
"You could stay here, forever! With us." Jackie said excitedly.
Seraphina grinned.
"With me." He looked into her eyes.
They both gazed at each other and unconsciously got closer.
They were both tranced until they were millimeters apart.
Jackie smiled.
Seraphina blushed and almost pulled away, but Jackie had a hand firmly on her back.
Jackie closed the gap and gently kissed her.
Seraphina was embarrassed at first, but soon relaxed into him.
After several minutes, Jackie pulled away and shifted to lay against a tree.
He gently guided Seraphina's head to lay on his chest.
"Goodnight." He whispered.
