Angelica opened her eyes to the feeling of Jack playing with her hair. She looked up at him and grinned.
"Did I wake you up?" He asked as he curled a lock of dark brown hair around his finger and let it bounce off.
"Yes, but that feels good," She closed her eyes and moved closer to his chest as he continued to curl her soft tendrils around his rough fingers.
"Do you want some breakfast?" Jack asked gently.
Angelica was about to answer when her stomach decided to give her warning that she was about to need to run to the bathroom.
"No, thank you," Angelica said quickly, trying to keep her food down.
"Since when do you thank me?" Jack laughed.
Angelica shrugged and Jack looked at her funny.
"Are you ok?" He let go of her hair.
Angelica nodded as she struggled to stop the bile in her throat.
Jack backed away from her and she managed to smile. "I'm fine."
"Are you?" he asked.
Angelica finally shook her head no and dashed to the bathroom. Jack followed her and rubbed her back.
"I'm getting you to a doctor, you know," Jack said after she'd finished.
Angelica pouted and Jack quirked a brow at her. "I already told you why."
"I know," She sighed and hugged him.
Jack held her in his arms and kissed her cheek. "I just want to keep you safe."
Angelica smiled and tear rolled down her cheek. Jack pulled away and wiped it with his finger.
"I love you," She smiled.
"As do I," He held her small hands in his.
"Can I reevaluate that breakfast offer?" She asked.
Jack chuckled and took her to deck, but only followed her halfway to the kitchen before running after Gibbs.
"Gibbs!" He shouted. "What's the closest port?"
"France, Jack, why?" The portly aged man bellowed back.
"We need to stop there, for a doctor."
"Aye," Gibbs replied, "It'll be just a few hours.
Jack nodded and went to the kitchen to find Angelica already done.
"What did you eat?" Jack asked.
"Eggs, ham, milk, and some of that yellow mush," She replied.
"You're going to eat the crew out of a meal," Jack laughed but got a death glare from Angelica. "Anyway, we're docking in a few hours for a doctor in France.
He saw her eyes widen but she simply said "fine."
"What is your problem with doctors?" He asked.
"Jack, the two times I've been handled by doctors, I've been poisoned and the other time almost died."
"Fair," Jack nodded. "You're still going."
"Jack, France!" Gibbs shouted.
"Closer than I thought," Jack mumbled. He grabbed Angelica's hand and she timidly followed him off of the ship and into town.
They made their way to a small building with a medical symbol on the outside and went in. Angelica halted when they walked in, but Jack proceeded to the desk.
"Could the doctor check her, love?" Jack pointed back to Angelica. The French woman giggled and nodded. Soon a man in medical clothing walked through the door and asked for Angelica, who was being held down by Jack.
"Angelica?" The doctor called in a heavy French accent.
Jack pushed Angelica to him, and the doctor caught her and laughed. She was led back to a room and was instructed to lay back on a table. She told the doctor about her illness.
"That's quite strange, dear," The doctor said. "I will do some tests." He left the room and Angelica was left alone with various used needles and such. When the doctor returned, she nearly fell off the table in surprise.
"You're jumpy," He chuckled. Angelica smiled nervously and peeked at his clipboard.
"We've come to a diagnosis, Angelica," The doctor flipped several sheets of data out of his way. "You're pregnant."
"What!?" Angelica screamed.
"There's no other way to put it. There's a baby in there," The doctor touched her stomach.
Angelica's face was of pure shock and she stared at her stomach and then at the doctor.
"For how long?" She asked.
"Recently, it hasn't been long. I cannot see how you've misread the symptoms though," He laughed.
"Disease strikes often on the ocean," She replied monotonously. "So does death." She rubbed her stomach.
The doctor fell silent.
"Thank you, sir," She coughed awkwardly and left.
Jack was waiting outside for her, and smiled when he saw her.
"So?" He asked. "Are you alright?"
"Perfectly fine," She nervously laughed. "Somewhat."
Jack questioningly raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, I'm fine," She brushed it off.
Jack nodded. "Do you have medicines you should take?"
"No."
"Then what was wrong with you?" Jack asked, now frustrated at her never ending loop of words.
Angelica grabbed his hand and quickly scurried back to his ship. She drug him into his cabin and sat him on the bed.
Jack looked scared for once, thinking the worst. She grabbed his hands and looked at his face.
"I'm pregnant," She said quickly.
Jack stared at her and at her stomach, slightly distended.
"A-again?" Jack looked surprised.
Angelica nodded and Jack hugged her tight.
"I thought you'd have some incurable disease," He laughed. "But why did you not tell me as soon as you knew?"
"You obviously don't want another child, Jack," Angelica shrug. "You're unpredictable, Jack, you might leave."
"Angelica, how many ways can I show you that I will never leave you?" Jack asked.
Angelica sighed. "I know, but it contradicts with your reputation."
"My old reputation. I have a family now. I have a wife and child....ren," Jack looked down at her stomach.
Angelica giggled and put his hand on it.
"I never thought you'd stay with the mother of your children," Angelica commented.
"I never thought I'd fall in love," Jack smiled.
Angelica pecked him on the lips. "I knew from the moment I saw you."
