Angelica woke up to another bright light, but it wasn't harsh and there was no cold water.
"Angelica!" A familiar voice greeted happily.
Angelica's eyes slowly focused and saw Jack standing by her in the bed in their house.
"Jack?" Angelica asked. "What happened?"
"I saved you, went through those brutes and found you passed out." He shivered.
Angelica weakly reached her hand out and grabbed his. "Thank you." She said.
Jack smiled and looked sympathetically at her, barely able to lift her hand.
He looked at her face. Smiling only because he was there, only because she didn't want to look like she needed him.
"Angelica, it's ok." He said as she began to fall asleep and continually wake her self up.
"No, I've got to stay awake." She tried to sit up but Jack didn't let her. "If I fall asleep I may die? What then? What about-" She suddenly stopped.
"Where's Jackie?" She looked over to Jack in a panic.
"He's here. Without a scratch." Jack reassured.
Angelica sighed and slowed her breathing.
"Go to sleep, love, I'm not going anywhere until you're better so you can forget about being alone." Jack smiled.
Angelica smiled back and squeezed his hand.
She was asleep within a few minutes, but woke up several times because of nightmares of the men.
"Jack?" Angelica asked.
"What do you need?" Jack quickly went to her.
Angelica scooted over in the bed and looked at him expectantly.
Jack looked at her in confusion. "Are you alright?"
Angelica grabbed his hand and did her best to pull him beside her.
Jack slowly obeyed her request and took his shirt off before scooting in the bed next to her. To his complete surprise she snuggled into him and put her head on his chest. Jack let his hands drop and hold her.
Angelica's weak eyes suddenly opened and found his.
"Just for comfort." She clarified.
Jack sighed and nodded, but still held her.
Angelica dropped her head back onto his bare chest and fell into the best sleep she'd had in a while.
Jack couldn't help but look down at her satisfied face and kiss her forehead.
"I'll miss you." He whispered and fell asleep himself.
---------------------------------------------Jack woke up to see Angelica sitting up and eating a bowl of soup.
"Feeling alright?" He asked.
Angelica nodded as she sipped some liquid off the spoon.
Jack sighed and put his shirt back on.
"What is the matter?" Angelica asked.
"I've got to be leaving today." He said softly.
Angelica sadly nodded and slipped out of bed to hug him, but as soon as her feet touched the floor she fell.
"Angelica!" Jack gasped and helped her up.
"I'm fine." She assured.
"No you're not, your wounds have started bleeding again. Make sure one of the servants changes your bandages once a day." Jack told her as he grabbed his hat.
Angelica reached out her arms and Jack embraced her in a hug.
He smiled at her and wiped a tear from her bruised cheek. "I'm sure we'll see each other again." Jack comforted.
Angelica sniffed and nodded. "See you later."
Jack hugged her one last time and walked out the door.
As soon as he exited a servant came in to change her bandages.
The woman gently reached for the cloth around her stomach, but as soon as she touched it, Angelica winced and squirmed away.
"I'm sorry, Misses Sparrow, I have to." The woman tried again but Angelica weakly pushed her arm away.
"Please, just leave it."
"But Mister Sparrow said-"
"He doesn't live here anymore." Angelica's eyes became misty.
He's gone forever...
