Jack woke up next to Angelica who had her back turned and was as far as she could manage to get away from him.
Jack smirked and scooted closer, throwing his arm around her waist.
He felt her wake, but she didn't snuggle into him as she usually did.
"You didn't mean what you said last night, right?" Jack put his face in the crook of her neck to breathe in her scent.
"Which part?" Angelica asked.
Jack reached for her hand and intertwined his fingers with her own. She didn't pull away, but it seemed a sad gesture.
"About me living on a ship and you living here." He shuddered as he said it.
There was silence for a long time that Jack hated.
"I'm not sure if I did, Jack." Angelica swallowed hard.
Jack was speechless. He managed a small. "Oh."
Angelica turned over on her back and sat up. She weakly got out of bed and made her way to the closet. She came out fully dressed and leaned on a bed post for support, seeming to be catching her breath.
"Are you alright? You didn't walk that far." Jack scooted over to her and got out of bed.
"I'm fine." Angelica gasped.
"Are you sure?" Jack put his hand on her back.
Angelica nodded and walked out the door.
A servant came in the room and made the bed. "Mr. Sparrow, I know it is not my place, but is your wife alright? She looks ill." The young girl inquired.
"Well she'd never admit it, but no Miss, she's not alright." Jack sighed.
The servant seemed to have heard something outside the door and ran downstairs. "Mrs. Sparrow!" She gasped and Jack ran out the door as well.
Angelica had somehow gotten down the stairs and then collapsed at the bottom.
Jack slid down the bannister for a faster descend and knelt down next to the unconscious woman.
"Go get water and food and bring it to our room." He ordered the maid.
He carried Angelica back up the stairs and laid her gently on their bed.
The servant laid the foodstuffs on the nightstand and looked at Angelica worriedly before excusing herself.
Angelica stirred and opened her eyes groggily.
"Don't get up, Angel." He told her.
"Why not? I'm perfectly capable." She asked.
"Do you not remember what just happened?"
"I woke up and you asked me if I meant what I said." She answered.
"And then you nearly fell down the stairs because you're too weak." He added.
"Lies." She started to get up but he stopped her.
"Why would I keep you in bed if it wasn't for your own good?" He asked, annoyed now.
"For your own pleasure." She glared, and Jack tried to hide a smirk.
"Not the case this time, now here, drink some water." Angelica took the bottle and drank a few sips.
"And this," He handed her a plate of eggs and she refused.
"You're going to kill yourself if you don't eat!" Jack said worriedly.
"And?" She crossed her arms. "You're concerned why?"
"Why am I concerned- Angelica I love you! No matter how far you push me away and no matter how much you want me gone I will always love you. Even if you run off and marry some rich man who will stay on land with you, you'll always be my one and only love." He finished.
Angelica looked at him with tears in her eyes and reached up.
Jack hugged her tight and long, and when they broke away he kissed her sweetly.
"Does this change anything?" Jack asked hopefully.
Angelica sighed and slowly shook her head. "You've no idea what that did to me, Jack."
"I'm so sorry." He embraced her again.
Angelica embraced him back. "Can I have the food?" Angelica asked.
Jack smiled and handed her the plate.
She eagerly ate as if she hadn't in days, which was true.
"Thank you." Jack whispered to her.
