The three rebels snuck down the hall at midnight to the weapons hall. Adonis touched the lock and it flew off. He opened the doors with as little noise and possible and crept in, instructing Jack and Angelica to wait outside.
He returned with several strange but frightening-looking weapons with sharp blades.
They proceeded along their silent path to the castles door, but once they got to the main room, they heard large footsteps.
"Stop them!" Yelled a guard.
Immediately a gun pointed and shot at Jack.
Angelica drew her wings and put them around him while Adonis went at him with one of the blades.
By the time Adonis had him dead, Angelica had several bloody holes in her wings.
"Are you ok?" Jack said as she winced at the pain.
"Just fight." She encouraged.
Adonis was experienced with a blade of this kind, but an army of three could never hold off how many guards there were.
"Go! Run while you can!" Adonis waved them off.
They obeyed, but right when they opened the castle doors, Adonis was shot and fell dead.
"ADONIS!!" Angelica gasped.
Jack ushered her on, but it was hard for him to do with her tears flowing.
They ran outside the castle and abruptly stopped as they looked down from a cloud.
"I can't fly." Angelica whispered.
Jack looked behind them, the guards were gaining fast and there was no way to go but down. Jack dropped his weapon and had her do the same.
"Hold on." Jack said and grabbed her and he jumped off the cloud and spread his wings.
The guards did the same and were faster with their wings, but Jack had a valuable head start.
Angelica looked at Jack with fear, sadness, adrenaline, and excitement all in one confused face.
Jack looked back at her the same.
After several minutes of spiraling downwards at incredible speeds, Jack heard shouting from above. He turned his head and saw all the soldiers gathered in one spot as if there were a forcefield not allowing them to pass.
"Full fledged soldiers have a smaller boundary." Angelica smiled up at Jack from his arms.
They laughed in excitement as they tumbled down toward the ground.
"There's the ship!" Angelica grinned as they got closer.
Jack spun around and put his feet first, gently landing on the ship and setting Angelica down.
She still showed pain, but also happiness.
"Jackie!" Angelica ran to him.
"Mom.. You have wings..." Jackie's mouth gaped. "And you're bleeding!" He said as he felt the beautiful feathers.
"Ow!" Angelica yelped.
"Sorry." Jackie muttered.
Angelica chuckled and hugged him.
"Dad!" Jackie ran to Jack and inspected his black wings.
His Dad hugged him and patted him on the back.
"How's your girl." Jack scruffed his son's hair.
"Here." Seraphina curtsied in her new baby blue dress.
"Where did you get this?" Angelica smiled and felt the fabric.
"Elizabeth." She returned the smile.
"Speaking of, where is Lizzie?" Jack furrowed his brow.
"You're back!" Elizabeth held her dress up whilst she scurried towards them. "I was hoping you'd be back soon, I'm leaving tomorrow." She smiled pleasantly.
"Right in time then." Jack laughed.
"...Mom?" Jackie pointed to her back.
Angelica followed his finger and saw that her wings had disappeared, leaving nothing but a white feather on the ground.
"That's strange." Jack said, but then he felt behind him and his were gone as well, with a black feather to prove.
"We should have a feast in your honor!" Elizabeth suggested excitedly.
"Why not?" Angelica giggled.
"There will be rum?" Jack put an arm around Angelica.
"There will be rum." Elizabeth inclined her head to clarify.
"Then there will be Jack." He laughed.
