Angelica angled her hat over her eyes as she walked up to the desk with the other men.
"Next!" The general called.
Angelica walked up to the desk hesitantly.
"Why would a boy your size be wanting to join the military?" He yelled.
"I'm good with a sword." She spoke deeply and unsheathed her sword.
"I highly doubt that, son." The man judged.
"Well, I could show you." She offered.
"Please, do." He chuckled.
Angelica aimed, and threw her sword at an airborne paper. It flew and pinned it to the wall.
"Very well then. Next!"
Angelica smiled under her hat and walked to the bunker. Outside stood yet another man holding a paper.
"You... Robert Hudson?" He looked skeptically.
"Yea why?" She shot back.
"General wanted me to tell you that you'll be needing training."
Angelica got offended. "Alright, by who?" She crossed her arms.
"Him." He pointed at Jack. "And just a warning, a boy like you should have more respect if you be expecting to stay here and get out alive."
Angelica nodded and scurried over to Jack.
She cleared her throat and spoke in her attempt at a man's voice, "you're supposed to train me. Robert." She offered her hand.
"Jack, we need to make you look tougher, lad. You look like a girl." She chuckled under her breath.
"So why are you here?" She asked, half to make conversation, half because she didn't trust bar men.
"I was kidnapped. It was either this or life in prison. You?" He said while sharpening his sword.
"Oh... I'm an orphan." She lied.
Jack sighed.
"What's wrong?" She asked, almost losing her deep voice over concern.
"Oh nothing, you saying you were an orphan reminded me of my family. I have a son about your age." He told her sadly.
Angelica smiled under her hat.
"Is that anything to smile about?" He said angrily.
"No, sir. I was just thinking of my father." She lied again.
"You, better be. You ever mess with my family, you get one of these through the heart." Jack gestured to his sword.
"Yes, sir." She saluted.
"Right, lets get to training." He dismissed the subject and tossed her a dagger.
