Chapter 10

An hour later Charley is knocking on her door, "Little one, time to get up." Half asleep she goes to the door and opens it to a happy, smiling Charley. "Let's go they are ready."

When they enter his brother's room there is a small table with a beautiful gold goblet and a silver knife next to it. "Stand over here by the table, now what is going to happen is you will repeat an oath to my pack. Then I will pledge to you. Next, we will slice our hands, mix our blood allowing it to fall in the goblet. After that you will be a member of the pack."

"Ok that sounds good to me." The three men smile. "I, Melody Rene Timmons, pledge my loyalty to the Silver Lake Pack. I will protect its members and Alpha Cameron Hinze."

Then Cameron says, "I, Alpha Cameron Hinze, take Melody Rene Timmons as a member of the Silver Lake Pack." He slices his hand then she takes the knife, and she slices her hand. They then hold their hands over the goblet allowing the blood to mix together. "The bond is connected."

I hear Charley in my head, "Welcome to the pack." The feeling of peace runs through my body. I have a pack that wants me.

Cameron says, "Let's go eat, I am starving."

Charley yells out, "Italian."

Cameron is laughing, "You have never changed."

"Why should I. I know what I like, and I enjoy it." Cameron shrugs his shoulders. The place was much fancier than the place they first went to. The food wasn't any better, but it cost a lot more. Charley starts talking, "Melody has a plan I think you should here. Tell them, Little One."

"I thought if I became a doctor, I could use my healing abilities, and no one would know. I have straight A's and I took werewolf anatomy. I had wanted to help people ever since I was little."

Cameron hmms for a little while, then asks Kody, "Can we look up her records without them knowing and get her enrolled in school?"

"That should not be a problem. Just fake a college looking at her for a scholarship."

"Make sure the college is on the west coast."

"I can do that."

"I got a scholarship the Harvard Medical school. If that helps."

"That is wonderful, but it isn't safe for you to go there now that you are hiding. If someone tells them they will go there looking for you. We have a good werewolf medical training center on our pack grounds you could go there and we could keep you hid."

"That's fine I don't care where I go as long as I can help."

"Kody try to postdate the paper work for Friday before she left. It will keep them off the trail. School is on break you will have to be back in two weeks to keep caught up. You can come back with me to start on time."

"I don't want to leave Charley. Can't I just start late."

"I can cut my run a little and be back in a little over two weeks tops three."

"I'll work really hard to catch up, promise."

"I can't take both of you on and look at your puppy dog eyes. You better be back in no more than three weeks." Dinner went by with a lot of talk about the pack and the alphas and Charley's childhood.

Back at the hotel Melody decides to use the phone in the room and call Bonnie, "Just a quick call to let her know I am ok. As long as she doesn't tell them it will be fine. It might be better if I go somewhere else to make the call so they can't find me just in case. They have a coffee shop down the road that has free internet and computer access. I will just Facebook her. That will be safer, you can't trace face book.

Charley I am taking a walk I will be back in a half hour."

"Don't go too far, it is getting late and there are a lot of not so nice people around."

"Okay don't worry." 'Bonnie, this is just to let you know that I am safe. I miss you and I am sorry I left you. You are my only true friend. Maybe someday we will see each other again.' Once she sends it she heads back to the hotel, feeling a little sad about not seeing her friend again or for a long time.

The morning is bright and feels warm, all she wants is to go outside, enjoy the day. First, she knocks on Charley's door, "Good morning. What time are we leaving today?"

"Not until after four, I have to take my brother to the airport then return the car."

"Do I have time to just take a walk and stretch my legs a while?"

"It is ten, be back by twelve we will have lunch. He has to be at the airport at one thirty."

"That sounds good, I have everything packed to go."

"Take a few minutes and get some clothes. You can't keep changing in and out of the same four outfits." Then he gives her two hundred dollars.

"I don't want your money. I have some of my own."

"I haven't had anyone to spend money on in forever, just let me do this." He kisses her on top of her head, "It makes me think of what I would have done with my own little girl." The sadness in his eyes is clear and heart wrenching.

"Next time I go shopping you have to come with me, then you will know how annoying girls can be." She giggles as she hugs him and gives him a kiss on the cheek. Then happily runs out the door to the nearest Walmart she can find. With a bag of clothes in hand she runs back to the hotel happier than she had ever been. She gets there just in time for lunch.

"You made it just in time. I was about to go looking for you."

"I have some clothes. I haven't been clothes shopping in so long it was fun. I wish my friend Bonnie could have been there but I will make friends at the new pack."

"Who is Bonnie?"

"She was the only friend I had. She is a great friend, she helped me get away from there. Bonnie loved to shop with her mom. I got a little jealous sometimes." Missing her friend and getting sad Melody changed the subject. "You want to see the clothes?"

"We don't have time right now, bring them with you, I've already got our stuff in the car. Let's get some lunch." They go to the same place they went to the night before. It is in a convenient location, it is close to the airport and the hotel, the best part is the food is good. Lunch was going great until Melody looked out the window and freezes.

Charley sees her reaction and tries to see what she is looking at. "What is wrong, little one?"

"That is my brother. How did they find me?"

"Did you call anyone?" Kody asks.

"I used the free computer and Facebooked Bonnie, so she didn't worry."

Kody huffs in agrivation, "They tracked it."

"How? You can't track Facebook."

Kody rubs his forehead. "You can track just about anything if you want."

Cameroon sounding agitated, "That's not the problem. How do we get her out of here?"

"Listen you guys return the car; the truck is loaded and ready to go. We can sneak back to the truck; she can hide in the rear of the cab. They won't stop a truck and they won't expect her to be in it."

"That is a good plan. Kody, go out there and see if anyone is hanging around."

"Ok, I'll mind link you when it is clear, Alpha."

"I'm sorry. I really thought it was safe." Tears are in Melodys eyes. "I am causing more problems."

"No time for you to say sorry and no time for tears. Let's just get you out of here."

They reach the car without a problem; she lays down on the seat so they cannot see her. Charley tossed Camerons jacket over her to help hide her. When they get stopped at a redlight Eric is walking across the street. He stops and smells the air then looks around. When the light turns green Charley honks his horn at him and he walks on.

The truck is a couple of miles away, when they get to the platform the truck is loaded and ready like he expected. As quick as they can they hop in say goodbye then take off. Charley goes the long way around so not to come anywhere near the center of town. Cameron leaves the car at the airport, then heads for home.
