Chapter 24

"Can we go inside?" Cameron asks, "It's kind of cold out here." As they walk inside, Alpha Cameron notices that Anthony's foot is bleeding. "What did you do to your foot son?"

"I stepped on a branch, and it went through my foot."

"I'll get the first aid kit," Charley runs to get a towel to wrap his foot, as Anthony goes to sit in a chair in the living room.

Melody walks over to look at his foot. "It's nothing, don't worry about it." Anthony tells her.

Melody puts her finger to her lips to quiet him, then gets to her knees in front of him. She then takes her hands, wraps them around the cut on his foot. A blue light glows from her hands, within a minute his foot is healed. "That should take care of it." She says as she stands up. Anthony looks at his foot. Then looks at his father. Then back to Melody. Disbelief written all over his face.

"Why don't I make some coffee, we can sit and talk."

"That sounds good, Uncle Charley. Thank you." He walks to the dining room, followed by his father and Melody. They all sit at the table, waiting for Charley.

"I have a few questions. Did you love the other Alpha?"

"No, yes, it was the idea of him more than him. I thought he could save me. I know now that the only one that can save me is me, with help from friends." She smiles at Charley and Cameron.

"If things were different at your pack, would you have stayed?"

"If things had been different with him, not the pack I would have stayed with my mate. What he did to me made me realize that he didn't value me as a mate even as a female. He treated me like an object he could play with. If he was a true mate, he couldn't have done that to me.""

"Why didn't you give me that chance? Didn't I deserve a chance to prove myself."

"If everyone you ever knew left you or hurt you, would you trust a stranger not to do the same thing? My mother left me my father despises me and my brother treats me like trash and if I died today would not miss me. I haven't felt safe until I met your uncle. I just don't know what to do anymore."

"Do you think you could love me and not judge me by the actions of others?"

"That's a silly question, the bond will cause us to love each other one way or the other. If you are anything like Charley and your father, I couldn't help but love you like I love them. That is part of the reason I was leaving. I don't like hurting anyone. It is not in me to be cruel and have another's pup is cruel and will hurt you.""

"Would you accept me as your pups' father?"

"That would count on you. Could you love them and promise to protect them and not hurt them? I never want my pups to go through what I have had to go through, and I would leave any mate that would hurt them. It is my job to protect what is mine."

"If we mate before the pups are born, my father says they will be my pups by werewolf law. I would adopt them legally in human court and with the werewolf council."

"My turn, I have a question, doing all this doesn't mean you love them, I know what it's like not to have your father's love. I do not want my pups to grow up like that. So, can you answer my question, could you love them?"

"That is a question I can't answer because I have not seen them. Watching them being born and growing I believe would make a love bond between us. I do know I would never hate them for not being mine biologically. It is not their fault. Now for my last question. What pack did you come from?"

"I have not told anyone that. For two reasons, first I don't want to get sent back there. Second, I don't want to cause tension between two packs, not over someone like me."

"Does that mean you won't tell me? And what do you mean someone like you. You think so little of yourself, and you are so special. I don't understand."

"Is it that important to you? If so, why?"

"Yes, it is that important. I need to know who hurt you. This way I can keep them away from you, to keep you safe."

"Does that mean you want me to stay with you?"

"I have seen you through the bond, but I have also seen you through my eyes. I believe you will be a wonderful mate and a strong Luna. Do you think you could trust me to be your mate?"

"I have feelings for you, I have trusted you enough to show you, my gift. With time I think trust and love will get stronger. I would do my best to be the mate you deserve."

"Then prove your trust in me and give me the name."

"I have already shown you trust, now you want more. How are you going to show me that you trust and want me?" Anthony smiles as he gets up from his seat. Slowly he walks to her, extending his hand he helps her to stand in front of him. He folds her in his arms kissing her wantonly. He tilts her head to the right as he extends his canines and marks her as his own.

"What are you doing?" Melody did not expect this to happen, she squirms in his arms trying to get away, he holds her tightly. The pain from the bite turns to pleasure causing her to melt in his arms.

"Does this show you trust and how much I want you?"

A single tear rolls down her cheek, as she hugs him back. She whispers in his ear, "Skyline Pack."

He looks at her, "Drew?"

She looks at him now nervous, "Yes."

"I know Drew. We have gone through Alpha training together for two years. He has always thought himself better than a lot of people. I never imagined him doing something like this though. I met his future beta, Eric, when they all came to the Alpha training. He seemed to be a nice man, very hard and stern though."

"Eric is my brother. He is not a bad person, him and my father hate me. My mother's leaving has caused this hate. They say I'm like her and won't see me for me. Alpha Drew looks down at me because of my mother. That's why I could not be the Luna and had to be a mistress. It is hard to be a mistress to your own mate, and harder to watch someone else raise your children."

"No one should have to. And no one should be judged by what someone else has done." Charley and Cameron have been sitting quietly listening to them trying not to get involved.

"Are we going to have a Luna and Alpha ceremony on the next full moon when you take over the pack?"

"Yes, Father, I think we will. As long as Melody accepts being the Luna?"

"I would be honored to be Luna, but not at the expense of me becoming a doctor. It is the way I can use my gift to help people, and to just help people in general."

"Father, I have no problem with that. Is there any reason why she can't attend school and be a Luna?"

"No, there is no problem in that. It will be hard on her. Between school and being Luna, also she will have the pups."

"It won't be any harder than what I have already done for the last eight years. I do have one more request, if it's ok with Papa Charley. I would like to stay in his house with him, even after I am mated to Anthony. I would like the two of us to stay here where I feel like I am in the home I have not had for a long, long time." Melody looks at Charley and then Anthony waiting for an answer.

"I have no problem with that." Then Anthony kisses her.

"I better get started on the extension." Melody runs over, hugs Charley then kisses his cheek. "I love you, too, Little one. Where is everyone sleeping tonight?"

Anthony smirks at him, "Wherever she is." Charley rolls his eyes and Cameron starts laughing.
